Unpopular opinion: I know it's cool to wear your earbuds and carry a book while pasting a disinterested, don't-talk-to-me expression on your face, but I like to talk to the person sitting beside me on airplanes. I liked it when we were willing to be inconvenienced by strangers.

My husband and I each picked an activity for our anniversary today. Jav was dying to try out his new clubs, so we went to the driving range first. I chose to introduce him to the New England tradition of candlepin bowling, and he came around to it. We had a blast. 10/10 highly recommend this date.

Peak Boston storytime. This was our first winter in our current place, and we've never controlled our own heat. Our landlord turned it off a couple of weeks ago, and it's chilly, but our space heater makes it comfortable, so we thought, it's probably cheaper anyway, so we'll do that until it's warm.

And this is precisely why I spent half of my therapy session with my husband last night talking about how anxious I am about him traveling to Florida next month. It doesn't matter if you were born here if you're not white and your name "doesn't sound American."
A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred.
