Incandescent with rage because I thought I put on a black sweater in the dark this morning but turns out it's navy and now I'm out and wearing black shoes.

I guess one clarifying aspect of the regime's occupation of Minneapolis is that *no one* is coming to save us. No elected officials will protect you against the lawless thugs marauding around your streets. They won't even pretend to offer help.

They will hold indignant press conferences though.

Hey folks Calvary Food Shelf has been helping out people in Minneapolis for 30 years, and now they’re ramping up to meet the crisis, including doing home deliveries so people don’t have to risk going out.

They’re just over halfway to their current goal—let’s get them all the way, shall we?

in retrospect, it was amazing how much power people like Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell had at their fingertips in the pre-social media era. They could write an airport book claiming potato chips killed more people than all historical wars combined and it would become universal received wisdom

Less than a year and the answer is not really.
I wonder if the week that they abducted and disappeared a student protestor, dismantled the Department of Education, and sent goons with burn bags to the USAID offices will be remembered as eventful 2 years from now.

I'm deeply sorry to the people of Venezuela. There is no opposition party in the United States to counter the fascist regime's actions and the population is easily demagogued.

my one plea as we ring in the new year with Zohran being sworn in as mayor is to take some fucking wins

he’s not going to be perfect, there will be setbacks and disappointments, but take some joy and some pride in the good that comes out of this

good things are more durable when we celebrate them

One of the humbling and heartening things about living in a big apartment building is that it all kind of becomes an extension of your personal space, in a sense? Anyway, all of these people regularly see me looking absolutely busted.
