Our country makes it a shameful thing to be poor, which its own cruelty.

New: More than $50 billion (yes, with a b) for education is in jeopardy if the Education Department eventually proceeds with the layoffs it implemented last Friday. A federal judge put them on hold as of Wednesday.

Here's a list of the affected funding streams: www.edweek.org/policy-polit...

Entire teams that work on key funding streams may not return to work even when the shutdown ends.

I also cannot help but think of Oklahoma as Indian country & this as another attempt at pushing white colonial narratives on native kids.
Oklahoma is already facing serious teacher shortages. These "exams" will make those gaps harder to fill. And in the process, they'll erode the state's public education system, achieving the real goal of pushing families into private and charter options and into homeschooling instead.
The "exam" was created by dangerous, right-wing, fascist groomer Prager U.

Our argument:

◾ Most research summarizing high quality PD proposes lists of features of quality PD
◾ BUT, while there is a general consensus, there are points of contention. What is more, there are examples of PD that meet the criteria set out on the lists but don't support meaningful learning

From an NIH source re. grant terminations

"These searches are pulling in things based on 'other support' sections and biosketches, so science may be held up just because someone mentions that they serve on a DEIA committee, or has a completely different grant that uses a 'problematic' word.
