"Why is it so normal for law enforcement — those who are supposed to be keepers of law and order — to kill Americans? And why is the only question at the end of the day how much their victims deserved to die?"

This line from the NYTimes editorial board is bizarre. The government doesn't get to just murder people if it decides it's in "the public interest." That's exactly the kind of 'rationale' offered by the Trump administration for its assassinations of fishermen in the Caribbean.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

Don’t let this White House lie to you. Believe what you see.

Alex Pretti was trying to help a woman off the ground. Then immigration agents tackled, shot, and killed him.

It’s time for them to get the hell out of MN.

WELKER: Did at any point Mr. Pretti brandish a gun?

BLANCHE: There's obviously an investigation that's ongoing.

WELKER: But did he brandish a gun? Video shows he's holding up a phone

BLANCHE: We don't know what ICE saw

(That's a no!)

A completely insane take.

Also, guess what gun ICE issues to it's officers? That's right, the same Sig P320 Pretti was carrying.
From the NY Post. You know they are really scrambling when they are running "The gun was no angel" stories.

I’ve reached out to both Gov. Walz and Sen. Klobuchar following the latest shooting involving federal agents in Minnesota.

Marylanders have witnessed this cruelty in our own communities – during a school drop-off in Salisbury and in Glen Burnie on Christmas Eve. These are not isolated incidents.

People in the highest levels of our government have all spent the last 24 hours willfully and repeatedly slandering and defaming an American citizen whom they brutally murdered in broad daylight.

Fascism is fully here.

This is how fascism comes to America. It’s the endless events, day after day, until one day you wake up in a different country. Anti-immigrant rhetoric, censorship, attacks on universities, masked terror squads murdering people in the streets, enemy lists, denaturalization, camps

Federal agents in Minneapolis wrestled Alex Pretti to the ground and secured the handgun he was carrying moments before shooting him multiple times, according to a Washington Post analysis of video footage.

i think this attitude — that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questioned— is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

I wish Democrats would start just speaking the truth:

“ICE is killing American citizens in public for exercising their freedom of speech because Donald Trump wants to be a king.

This isn’t about immigration—Trump wants to make it illegal to oppose him, and to stay in power until he dies.”

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.
