Kudos to the persistent individuals who spoke out. It shouldn’t take 40 years to stop a serial child predator.
We spent 6 months investigating a children’s pastor accused of being a serial rapist.

His accusers have spent 40 years fighting to stop him.

Today he works for disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker and runs a secluded camp for kids in the Ozarks.

Support services for domestic violence and sexual assault victims are crucial. Inadequate resources for these services have dire consequences not only on the direct victims but also on those that rely on them or those they rely on.
Federal funding for victims of crime has decreased over the last few years, but 35 states established funds to keep domestic violence shelters and sexual assault centers open and counselors for child abuse victims on the job.

Tennessee is not one of those states, reports @anitawadhwani.bsky.social

This passage crossed my mind today.

Isaiah 1:5,6
Your whole head is injured, your whole heart afflicted.
From the sole of your foot to the top of your head
there is no soundness—
only wounds and welts
and open sores,
not cleansed or bandaged
or soothed with olive oil.
"Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.
Wash yourselves and be clean!
...Give up your evil ways.
Learn to do good.
Seek justice.
Help the oppressed.
Defend the cause of orphans.
Fight for the rights of widows..."

“But as Firefly demonstrates, the abuse was carried out or covered up by a variety of people in the church and fell into consistent patterns. Also, kids today are being abused by their pastors. But like Bickle, the pastors aren’t going to be caught for another 20 to 30 years.”
We often talk about pastors disqualifying themselves from the ministry due to abuse. But at some point, we need to start calling out entire churches as disqualifying themselves from ministry. I make the case for this in my latest piece on IHOPKC. baptistnews.com/article/when...
