Caledonian Railway Company opened #OnThisDay in 1848. Dunblane's railway station opened 22 May 1848, later became part of Caledonian rail network. In 2017 Dunblane's original Caledonian Railway footbridge (as seen in lower image) was relocated to heritage railway at Bridge of Dun

The crumbling and precarious clifftop ruins of Newark Castle, near St Monans in the East Neuk of Fife, also sometimes known as the Castle of St Monans. A castle was probably first built here in the mid-1200s. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Hiding in plain sight - a tiny stretch of the Antonine Wall ditch at Bantaskin in Falkirk. The stone base of the Roman wall was excavated here in 1976, but then destroyed to make way for a new road. #RomanSiteSaturday

This very special building is believed to be the only medieval Carmelite church that is still in use anywhere in the British Isles and is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek. This remarkable 15th century Gothic church, in South Queensferry, was once part of a Carmelite friary, founded around 1330.
