As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit

The bottom line is that there is NOT a 1:1 correspondence between human beings and Social Security Numbers, by design.
The concept of "one and only one SSN per human" is a useful oversimplification but it has never been true.

US police are a threat to our collective public health, I cannot say that enough.
2 police officers in Indiana will stand trial for murdering Herman Whitfield III in April 2022. He was tased and handcuffed face down while suffering a mental health crisis and can be heard yelling "I can't breathe." The footage is horrific. Whitfield was described as a genius pianist and composer.
