We simply cannot allow the lies to pass scrutiny and acceptance!
Are you paying attention, Canada???
This is why Canada stands with our Nordic and NATO allies against American aggression toward Greenland. The President’s claims are based on transparent falsehoods, and if we allow the lies about Greenland to pass, the next lies will be about Canada.

Together, we must deter the US from its course.

Before running for office, I was a professor of international politics focused on climate change, the Arctic, and Canada-US security issues.

You can find links to my academic work on these and other topics here: willgreaves.ca/research/.

To be honest, some of it has aged too well for comfort.

I suggest reading his entire thread. This is why I love Blue Sky.
And I also suggest anyone wishing to read "reality" without spin, read anything but news out of USA. Even if it's not propaganda, no justification for defending Trump. Read: The Guardian, Reuters, DW, Canadian Press, etc.

If “democracy dies in darkness” one might ask why The Washington Post is recycling second-rate Arctic analysis circa 2009 to rationalize Donald Trump’s unhinged fantasy of conquering Greenland.
The Arctic is warming around four times faster than the rest of the globe.

The changing landscape created a region ripe for opportunity factors that may play a role in President Trump’s sudden quest to obtain Greenland.

i do think even a lot of otherwise well-informed Americans really do not understand just how much Trump has already mutilated our global reputation and global trust.

it will take a long time and many acts of extreme contrition on our part to rebuild this.
I swear everything I see out of the US is "wait until the midterms. We'll get a majority back and everything will return to normal"

I don't think they're aware of the damage that's been done

The framing of this issue is skewed, bit of US hubris here. His sabre rattling against Allied members already violates basic NATO membership. NATO will remain but morph, even without US.

Analysis: Who can save NATO from Trump as he escalates bid to grab Greenland? | CNN Politics
President Donald Trump has pitched NATO into what could become its worst-ever crisis by threatening new tariffs against US allies who oppose his grab for Greenland against the will of its people.

It's pretty clear that the future car industry in Canada will be one without the US. The US has signalled that it will be unilaterally withdrawing car manufacturing from Canada as soon as it can disengage its cross-border supply chain. Jobs will be lost. Canada needs to be ready. #cdnpoli

"Trade is not fundamentally about competition. It's not us versus Canada. It's us & Canada." It's really about cooperation. If the US won't cooperate reliably with Canada, we shouldn't be surprised when Canada looks for new friends to cooperate with.
The result: Americans miss out. #cdnpoli

Agree...what is happening must be opposed, stopped. Moral voices that have the power and leadership must speak up.
Political and business leaders at Davos must speak out against what is occurring in the United States. If there were ever a time for world leadership, it is now. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/jamies-choice
