Incredible to claim Bjorn Lomborg as an "early survivor of cancel culture" when he's one of the best exemplars of whatever the opposite of cancel culture is: endlessly platformed, impossible to avoid despite no expertise, continuous errors, nobody asked etc etc
This is particularly stunning because the sheer number of times we demonstrated Bjorn Lomborg was just flat-out lying grew so large that it almost became literally pointless to keep doing it, because he just ignores it and keeps on going

No government can "stop the boats" so if this logic is followed every government will lose the next election until the UK ends up with the government out of "Children of Men".
It would now take a miracle for Labour to avoid defeat at the next election

Furthermore public transit teaches you how to live with temporary minor annoyances and cars teach you that you're god's most special baby and your moment-to-moment comfort is the only important thing in the world

i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

Thank you #BusConnects for finally laying on a more or less door-to-door service from my work to home. Takes three times as long as cycling but great to have the option on a rainy day.

Akinator, the mind reading genie
Akinator can read your mind and tell you what character you are thinking of, as if by magic. Think of a real or fictional character, answer few questions, and Akinator will try to guess who it is. Wil...

This short clip has two of the all-time great Simpsons lines:

- "I am familiar with the work of Pablo Neruda"

- "Way to breathe, no-breath"

as well as a top-tier Itchy & Scratchy AND Homer getting caught in the stairs.

This morning I read the article from @irishtimes.com and rang & wrote to them to ask for a correction. They corrected the headline, and the article author @conorpope.bsky.social wrote back to confirm that it had changed. I opened up the app this evening and it’s wrong again.

This is not harmless by the way - I don't have a heat pump (yet) so I assumed this warning didn't apply to me. But I have had a new circulation pump installed in past 8 years. The effectiveness of this recall will be directly impacted by shoddy media reporting.
Incredible - all the reporting on this I've heard called them "heat pumps". Never ascribe to malice and all that but it does feel like somebody thought "heat pump" was more newsworthy than "water pump"
Oh lordy. No, these are not "heat pumps". They are *water* pumps installed in conventional fossil-fuel heating systems. 🤦‍♂️

I'm not a big fan of Part 8 being picked out from the rest of the 18 hours for special attention. It's a beautiful hour of TV but it's part of a magnificent whole (also Part 11 is even better).

Gen X once again the forgotten generation - we barely got to take on the cringe-posting baton from boomers before Millenials step in.
Millenials are now going all Gen-X on facebook.

She totally deserves being labelled cringe by her step daughter.

Interesting feedback from my teenagers going into second year of school #phoneban. They never objected to the ban itself but say all the rules/admin/enforcement around it have made school feel less fun.

Interested to know if others have heard the same.
