Last week, #ChappellRoan said that American motherhood seems like “hell,” and the explosive reaction to her comments is revealing how broken our system really is. Read why getting mad at the pop star is completely missing the point. 👇

Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

If y’all are the folks that call your representatives daily, please add closing the HHS Office of Long COVID Research and Practice to your list. Many people with Long COVID are too sick to make the calls themselves.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick, a former slave, was less about the snakes and shamrocks, and more about the radical equality found in Christianity to the point of transforming Irish society to be one of the first nationalities to end slavery and emancipate everyone.

The Constitution is clear: the President can't arrest people he disagrees with.

By detaining Mahmoud Khalil — a legal permanent resident whose American wife is 8-months pregnant — Donald Trump seeks to undermine basic freedoms.

We must oppose this move toward authoritarianism.

Senate Democratic leadership essentially played dead today and greenlit the Trump-Musk-Vance coup. What is the point of the Democratic Party if it doesn't actually act like an opposition party? Hello?

Whenever I use YouTube to help me listen to possible worship hymns, algorithm regularly reminds me that I need this plowshare prayer.

“I pray that if prayer has been used against you as a sword, against you and your heart, against you and your word, I pray that this prayer is a plowshare of sorts.”

Blergh.

Someone made a fake instagram account of me. If the instagram handle has a 2 at the end of it, that’s the fake account.

Also, I would never ask for a gift card from an instagram account. If I’m fundraising it’s going to come directly from Trinity and have an article in the newsletter.

It’s International Wheelchair Day!

Here are some important facts:
1. Wheelchairs are used by 1 out of every 55 Americans.
2. Wheelchair accessibility to public places wasn’t guaranteed until 1990, with the Americans with Disability Act (which is currently under attack by the 47 Administration)

Sometimes I wonder if the church had been better at standing up to church bullies for the past fifty years, helping them change their behavior and embrace curiosity and compassion, holding them accountable to standards of care, the whole country would be in a better place.

This is infuriating and frustrating.

Let’s make the most capitalist argument:

There are 400,000,000 people with Long COVID worldwide, decreasing the global GDP by 1%.

A drug that cures Long COVID is an estimated to be a trillion dollar market.

In what world is trillion dollars not a priority?
#LongCOVID research is facing roadblocks as pharma companies refuse to supply drugs for clinical trials. Researchers seeking to repurpose existing medications are met with silence or vague excuses, like the lack of a biomarker. This delays progress for millions still suffering. #MedicalResearch
Long COVID studies stymied by pharma’s lack of cooperation
Academic researchers want to repurpose drugs for the condition. Manufacturers aren’t supplying them
