At this point, @rbreich.bsky.social, I've read George Washington's farewell address, and he was right about what party politics would do. I don't think we should have political parties anymore because, in throughput, they're another layer between the voter and democracy, so no, I don't want that.
Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.
A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.

Yeah, there's a lot of service jobs like that folks take for granted, and you can tell by the way they argue that those jobs aren't important enough to merit unionization, benefits, or being paid a living wage that keeps up with inflation and rises in the cost of living in exchange for doing them.
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Yesterday, when Bovino announced ICE would be returning to Little Village today, some of us donated and fundraised to buy out street vendors in the neighborhood. This morning, volunteers hit the streets at 6:30 am, looking for vendors to buy out. Tamales make an excellent breakfast.

#Parties inherently *can't* represent anyone. It's another layer between the People and democracy. We need blind elections. Instead of campaigning and voting for someone, we should be reviewing CVs that include policy points and voting for the best CV. No names or pictures attached.

Yeah, everyone freaking out at her for "betraying us" needs to chill. She knew that if she didn't do it this way, her colleagues were going to make worse choices that left us hungrier for longer. This forces due process to happen instead of leaving it delayed while folks starve. Cut her some slack.
At first I thought that she was playing politics, and I was disheartened.
She didn’t vote against SNAP. She issued a temporary stay to let the appeals process work. Her move protects long term benefits by ensuring legal decisions are not reversed. She’s upholding the Constitution. It’s due process.
