The center is not in the center of anything. It's just corporatism.

Abolish ICE
"Three US citizen children from two different families were deported with their mothers by ICE Friday morning. One of them is a 4-year-old with Stage 4 cancer who was deported without medication or the ability to contact their doctors" www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
Three U.S. citizens, ages 2, 4 and 7, swiftly deported from Louisiana
The cases have renewed concerns that the Trump administration’s expedited deportations are violating the rights of both citizens and noncitizens.

the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless

160 years ago today, the traitor Jefferson Davis and his treasonous cabinet abandoned Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy, spelling the beginning of the end of the Civil War. A day for all patriots to celebrate.

You know, I'm just a lowly tech comms flack, but there seems to be one faction of Dems being screamed at/in hiding, and one faction pulling crowds like this. Maybe the latter should be in charge?
Tucson, Arizona today.

Original projected attendance was 3,000 people.

23,000 showed up.

Schumer tells Chris Hayes that Trump, Musk, and Vought "want" a shutdown, but also says Republicans do whatever Trump wants.

Why did every House Republican except one vote for the CR if Trump didn't want it to pass? You think you're owning Trump by voting for his party's bill?!

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Fantastic idea.
Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.

This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.

(Even better: Tesla will hate this)
Cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn five-star safety rating in Europe
Euro NCAP will release new testing guidelines in 2026.

elon pulls down on atlas shrugged: the bookcase slides open revealing a vault door with a keypad. he enters 4-20-69: the door unlocks and silently swings open. he steps inside and views rows upon rows of numbered test tubes, each filled with a milky fluid. “soon, my children,” he murmurs. “soon."

One thing I don’t think is super well known is that the original Andrew Wakefield paper in 1998 that basically started the modern anti-vax movement and has since been super-duper-retracted because it’s fraudulent and full of shit was a descriptive “study” of a grand total of just *12* children.
