introducing myself - new to bsky!

hi, I’m Rowan - you can find me in dark corners, wild spaces, cat cafés and teams meetings.

I have worked in copro/participation for about 10 years.

Sweet irony.. from a zine I made at my last hospital w/o Oxe (‘A Patient’s Guide to 1-1 Staff and Where to Find Them) - think my artistic rendition is pretty spot on.

(This Oxevision is turned off… because of the argument I had with SABP ages ago…)

Wow, this is a pretty stunning exercise in mental gymnastics. It’s amazing how much work people will do to justify the things that they don’t want to change. The conclusion comes first - the narrative follows.

The system always resists change. For things to be better we have to start somewhere.

‘You get more autistic in hospital’ is something I’m finding very true so far.

I’m stuck in A&E and it feels like my circuits are fried. I’ve not been this sensory-sensitive in a very long time. I think it’s because it’s so constant and out of control, and you just spend so much time waiting.

Really saddened to hear about Hannah Aitken’s death. From the info provided I’m pretty certain it’s what my sister used in the same way. Yet another PFD for the same substance, yet more reluctance from public bodies to do anything about it, just as we experienced. And yet another autistic girl lost.

Happy birthday to me!
Spending the day by the log fire and going out to unlimited kbbq in the evening.
I've been in Tuscany all week (I found Florence overrated but more rural Italy incredible) so it's great to be home.
Brought home some lovely olive oil and balsamic vinegar!
Bliss.
Today is my solar return and I have opened my gift to myself.
This is a branch flute, made custom to order with honeysuckle and moonstone, in key of Am.

It is native-style but made from a small POC-owned business in these lands, out of English twisted honeysuckle.

I'm in love! #WitchSky #PaganSky

Autism can absolutely affect your vulnerability and leave you displaced, which can both be a contributing factor to criminality. Lack of social understanding can also contribute to sexual offences (and definitely to being caught where others wouldn't be.)

It doesn't make it acceptable.
People need to stop using being autistic as an excuse for being an arsehole. It just embeds misleading stereotypes.
Yes, being autistic can mean you find social interactions difficult, I know I can.
It doesn't mean you default to walking around with a sock on your c**k.

I don't feel we've heard enough from #disabled people and those who will bear the brunt of the impact of this bill, which IMO has not had anywhere near enough scrutiny.

I've also rarely heard from those who have lived good #EOLC but still want change. I have so many thoughts, for another time.
Feel conflicted re #AssistedDyingBill agree with everything @ianbirrell.bsky.social says inews.co.uk/opinion/ther... is unsafe

That said I will never forget my Dad, who had exceptional #EOLC, asking me to do something to "help him leave" as he'd "had enough". It still took him another week to die.

Men are more likely to be sexually assaulted than they are to be falsely accused. And if a man tells me he has been sexually assaulted then yes; my predisposition is to believe him.

NHS MH crisis care in a nutshell:

Your options…

- wait months or years for 6-12 sessions of CBT or maybe DBT/EMDR if you want some variety
- go to a&e or safe haven if you’re about to die (and get a free PD dx included)
- throw meds at it
- get detained (or imprisoned - YMMV)

perfect 👌
