New story! I wrote (yet again) about ASL students, romantic relationships, and the uncertainty that arises when someone starts to learn a language after meeting you.

I'm grateful to @rrrubenstein.bsky.social and @theoffingmag.bsky.social for giving it space.

I really, really loved this one. @anniejowrites.bsky.social is always so good, but this really touched me.

I see the book piracy discourse is going around again and all I can say is I know more than one writer producing acclaimed work that is considering jacking it in or reducing the amount they write because they don't make to justify it vs a job job.

It's not only piracy, but piracy is costing us art.

This is the only story I've published during a very difficult year; to have something published is validating, but to have it singled out for awards consideration is truly special. I'm very grateful.

H/t to @rrrubenstein.bsky.social, especially, for being extraordinary through all this.
Congratulations to all of our nominees for the Pushcart Prize! ⭐️

As a Deaf person who hesitated to move to Philly, I honestly wish that someone had told me how many folks knew some level of ASL; I would have JETTED myself over here so fast. The community and engagement I've found here is incredible, truly second to none.
For whoever cares, I am really liking living in Philadelphia.

Saying this yet again because I’m so tired of ppl justifying this: ghosting ppl is one of the most cruel, anti-communal things you can do.

I don’t expect you to stay close to ppl who aren’t good for you. I am expecting you to have the decency to say “I have to step away, and here’s why.”

First up: my horror essay, from 2018 at @electricliterature.com, forever relevant:
