The kidnapping of Maduro inaugurates a highly dangerous era of U.S. empire that for perhaps the first time in an era of mass media is not pretending to be anything other than a violent, extractive enterprise of domination.

The surprising part isn't that the US has gone and done regime change in yet another nation, it's how blunt they're being about the reasoning for doing it. No carefully constructed lies and implied domestic consent, just stating openly in a press conference that you're there to take the oil.

Yeah, this seems like perfectly normal stuff done by a perfectly normal country in current year.

Can you imagine a government using the drug trade as a weapon against Americans? Like imagine if some government just flooded somewhere like Los Angeles with cocaine. That'd be wild.

I go to a gym party and make a paracord bracelet and in that time the US has invaded a sovereign nation and captured its president.

Can we go back to 2025, I'm not ready for 2026 just yet 😐

Got a second hand semi-fancy kitchen slicer thing from a friend who was upgrading theirs this week. It lets you engage additional rows of blades so you can do simultaneous horizontal and vertical cuts to varying thicknesses.

2026 goals:
- keep getting stronger and fitter (hitting an above bodyweight bench would be nice)
- continue my journey to getting back to playing drums good
- get my Irish citizenship confirmed (after I get my aussie one formally granted later this month)

That's all I can think of for now I guess

10% of the population of the Boston-Cambridge-Newton area is under 10 years old.

This same area contains 4.9m people. Making an assumption that there's a somewhat equal spread of ages in that 0-9 year old grouping, you conservatively end up with over 200k daycare age children.
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

The inky meaningful and fair way to apply a fine is as a percentage of income/net worth. Let everyone feel that punishment equally, rather than letting rich people purchase get ou of jail free cards at will
Zuckerburg is paying only $190M to settle an $8B lawsuit by FB shareholders for the Cambridge Analytica crime.

$8B would’ve been 3% of his net worth, and $190M is .08%. ~$75 for ordinary working people.

“If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the lower class.”

This is pretty much the same general vibe as so many American "muh freedoms" people. Their issue isn't their own personal freedom, it's their ability to freely enforce their wills and desires on others that is their point of contention
The thing to understand is no compromise would be enough for the GCs.

It is not enough that they are allowed to exclude trans people from single-sex spaces. Everyone else must be forced to do so. It is not enough that they are allowed to speak their views. Everyone else must be forced to listen.

Modern academia is fundamentally flawed, because there's no way you could get this S-tier reference past peer review in current year

The closet exists because people are worried that people might like them too much
transphobes: people are just coming out cause they think it'll make them liked by their peers

me before coming out: people are going to fucking kill me for this

Two Arcane fics in the top 3: based, glorious, noble perverts fighting the good fight.

The sea of Harry Potter ships below the top 3: cooked, deranged, corrupted perverts who will never see the light of paradise
