Panic = waking up at 4am the day the revisions to line edits are due back and realizing there's a timing issue that could ruin a major plot point.

I had a chat with @robyngigl.bsky.social about this a while ago, and I've been thinking about it since.

The problem to me seems two-fold - firstly that the publishing space for mystery/crime is one of the more conservative, and second that it's very hard for a transfemme to become a midlister.

Transgender medicaid ban and definition of sex are back in the federal bill - Dems can raise a point of order and force a vote, and as long as we don't lose 7 dems on this, Dems can keep it out.

This means that Democrats will have to raise a point of order on this part of the bill. This would force a vote on the amendment that would require 60 votes. Republicans have 53 Senate seats, so it means they would need to pick off 7 Democrats for this.
