I'd encourage any trans writer who's into the mystery/crime genre to try. It's not easy. I queried over 120 agents before one said yes. My 1st manuscript never sold. But I'm proof it can be done. We need more trans writers period, but we're certainly underrepresented in the crime/mystery genre.

I agree with your recommendations. Not sure that I totally agree with your theory that the genre is masc coded. While historically true, there are now a lot of good cis female crime writers. I think what's impt. is having a trans character in a story that draws in a broad audience of the genre.
