The simultaneity of memory in Arrival is sci-fi time-travel Proust (also best use of “on the nature of daylight” — apologies to Hamnet)

Loved the music in this movie. Glad I saw it on the big screen

Some poor kid working as a paid canvasser (I’m assuming) approached me last night in Sugarhouse, telling me he was collecting signatures to prevent gerrymandering. Absolute bad-faith garbage.

I saw a bunch of the older kids from Rose Park Elementary last Friday protesting. The kids are alright

There’s a direct line from Al Gore “creating the internet” to Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables” to Biden’s “nothing will fundamentally change” of popular people deciding to run with a made-up version of what was said rather than, y’know, the actúa reasonable thing that was said.
Biden was the one who said "nothing would fundamentally change" and he said it to group of wealthy donors telling them that they could afford a tax increase and nothing would fundamentally change for them if they had to pay their fair share.

So you managed to biff it twice caping for fascists.

We may no longer have snow in Salt Lake City, but at least our air quality is also absolute ass and median home prices are $531,000, average $560,000 🙃

Wait, do you pronounce it Gillian or Gillian? I’ve never heard her name said before, and I’ve always thought it was pronounce Gillian. Don’t want to be wrong here though

Inevitable headline:

“[dem candidate] criticized by some for scolding, belittling voters”

Eight paragraphs in we learn who “some” includes, and it’s MAGA mouthpieces and white nationalist grifters

And in my experience, the theory is more “theory” — a few bullet points gleaned from edgy memes and tumblr banter rather than substance or nuanced understanding

“You gotta pull yourself up by your bootstraps,” say the people who literally start crying if the government doesn’t protect their fake AI business with the violent force of the state
There are millions and millions of people who aren’t lazy or bad people who just want to have a decent life and will forever or for a long time struggle to get by, my personal preference is to not punish them and their children for it and then accuse them of not wanting it badly enough

What kills kids in America:

1. cars
2. guns

Guess what the GOP has worked relentlessly to support for half a century now?
Gov. Landry: "I like to ask Democrats if they like their communities to be dangerous or safe. Do they want their children to be able to walk to school or do they want to worry if they send them on the sidewalks, that unfortunate violent things are going to happen to them?"

Crazy how Denver is playing better but it’s tied. Random mistakes, stupid playcalling, not taking the field goal — Denver will fix those good ups in the second half and run away with this
