What a great year for Warner Bros. I guess if you're going to sell your company, you might as well exit stage left while you're on top.

My wife spent the last week in the hospital. She’s doing much better but I learned spending time with somebody in the hospital is still very traumatic for me after going through hospice with my dad last year. I spent the night with her every night she was in there and every night felt like hell.

I’d put this on my LinkedIn profile if it happened to me.

Of course the ICE murderer would have a bland ass name. The ID equivalent of porridge.

I was in JROTC all of high school. I witnessed the fact that there are just some people who want to join the military or become a cop or, now, join ICE because there is something deeply broken within them and they want to legally kill or hurt people.

I'm just glad I lived long enough to see Jacob Tremblay play the Unabomber in a movie.

Where's Where Wolf
A status update on my comic book writing "career"

I came very close to deleting my second graphic novel. Last year, I was very depressed and very unsure of my skills as a writer. I didn't even want to look at my work, let alone share it with other people. Yesterday, I reread THE CURSE OF THE WHERE WOLF and it turns out the book is pretty dang good.

Life is hard. Reward yourself with simple pleasures, such as GRIZZLYSHARK, a 90-page graphic novel about a shark that lives in the woods and absolutely destroys anything unlucky enough to cross its path. It's written and illustrated by Ryan Ottley (INVINCIBLE). Two fins up.

A graphic designer I am not, but I put together this infographic about the top new releases and classic film screenings at the River Oaks Theatre in 2025.

Thanks for helping us keep the lights on at Houston's oldest arthouse theater. If you keep watching movies, I promise to keep showing them.

All three of our Thursday preview screenings of NO OTHER CHOICE were pretty much sold out and the audience were incredibly diverse. I really do think Netflix has done an incredible job building an audience for foreign films and shows.

I finally had a chance to check out the first three issues of A HAUNTING ON MARS by @chappyzach.bsky.social, @colemancomicart.bsky.social and team. An excellent set-up that's equal parts Verhoeven sci-fi and ghost spookum. The art's great and the script surprising. I can't wait to finish the series.

A short-term New Year's resolution is to catch up on all the comics I've Kickstarted or picked up at cons over the last few years. BEORN: THE LITTLEST VIKING SAGA is pretty dang cute. Norse myths by way of Calvin and Hobbes. I really dug the art by Ben Bender. Hopefully, more books from him to come.

You know it was a wild New Year’s Eve for somebody when you see a raccoon doing a walk of shame down a suburban street at 8:30 AM. I hope it was worth it, Ranger Rick.

My sister gave me the comic book SHARKSQUATCH for Christmas. It's nice to have family members who really understand my passions.

The comic, about a race of half-Bigfoot, half-shark swamp predators, is a ton of fun and features some great over-the-top artwork. Greenlight this movie when, Hollywood?

Jimmy Giegerich is one of the grossest artists working today (and I mean that as an extreme compliment). I just finished his new comic THE PUTRID MAN, a wonderful EC Comics-inspired vomit-fest. If you're a fan of gnarly art and fun horror comix, seek this book out!

It's been a long year, and I'm behind on some of my reading, but I finally had a chance to enjoy the first issue of ATTICUS AND THE MAGICAL PILLOW FORT featuring gorgeous art from my WHERE WOLF partner-in-crime Debora Lancianese and a fun script by @jonathanhedrick.bsky.social. Highly recommended!
