@zackpolanski.bsky.social highlights that this Epstein/Mandelson moment goes far beyond politics into the integrity of our institutions, as Arlene Foster nods in unlikely agreement! The whole of last night's #Newsnight is well worth 30 minutes of your time.

NB: It's not just Mandelson. The Tories' chief election strategist Isaac Levido was also a lobbyist for Palantir.

Under both the Tories & Labour, this predatory mass surveillance corporation has had its tentacles deep into the heart of government.

The optimist vs pessimist divide in #climate debates isn’t usually about the data.

It’s about how the same graphs are read, what people emphasise, what they discount, and how they interpret pace and stakes.

Here’s what I mean 🧵👇

Note the timing of Home Office re-press releasing the “most ever raids” & “hardest ever immigration crack down” today.

Signalling alignment with Trump & ICE.

They haven’t got a clue how to make ordinary British people’s lives better, only how to make migrants suffer. #r4today

For supposed strategy geniuses, Morgan McSweeney and co always seem to choose the worst possible option for any given moment...
History shows that when democracies face crises, strengthening and reinvigorating democratic participation is essential to prevent democratic backsliding and the rise of authoritarianism. This is not that.
Starmer’s desperate rush for digital IDs is a recipe for repression

ID cards won’t reduce migration and will put trans rights at risk. But that’s not the biggest cost of Starmer’s half-baked scheme, says Cat MacLean

Powerful research with a clear message.

“Children are fascinated by the natural world. It’s maintaining that through their childhood and schooling that’s essential, alongside urban greening. There’s policies starting to do that but we’ve got to think in transformational terms – not 30% but 1,000%.”
