Great that top Canadian universities are hiring top scholars (why wouldn't they?) but the Ontario Progressive Conservative government has starved the post-secondary sector and the province has the lowest per-student funding of any Canadian province. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/educa...

I imagine many people are pleased the first snowfall of the year in the GTA #HamOnt occurred on the weekend because when it occurs on a workday the commute home is a nightmare as we go through the annual ritual of fools having forgotten how to drive in winter road conditions.

I have an annual MRI following a stroke 5 years ago. Prior to that I had 2 MRIs over 15 yrs due to persistent migraines & tinnitus (turned out it was a neurovascular issue that later caused the stroke...).
Anyhoo, my point is, nobody, NOBODY gets an MRI "just because", so why did Trump get one?
The president had a MRI but won't say why.

He had bruises on his hands but wouldn't say why.

He just had an 'annual medical' even though he already had his annual medical.

He got shot in the ear but has never released the medical records relating to it.

How is any of this ok?

As someone who spent many months in my research career poring over topographical maps for planning fieldwork, coupled w/ reading books about the Canadian WWII liberation of the Netherlands dealing with flooding for both combat defense & offense across a vast flat landscape, ... things are afoot...
🌊 Russia: Massive flooding in Belgorod region after successive Ukrainian strikes on the dam to cut off tens of thousands of Russian soldiers from supply routes.

There was a coyote barking about 2 backyards over. I got my dog to bark back and it sounds like the coyote approached to the next door neighbour's yard. What I didnt expect was that for the next half hour my dog was all amped up, perched up on the furniture barking at the back windows.

I was told getting rid of the carbon tax would solve this problem.

Opinion: Food inflation is going up. And there’s nothing anyone can do about it
While world events have greatly contributed to food inflation, environmental factors are a major driver

My 16 year old daughter did not know who Colonel Sanders was when I pointed him out. And we ate KFC plenty of times when she was growing up. *head shake*

I’m in standing room at @torontobluejays.bsky.social , behind accessible seating, where a kid/teen in a wheelchair is distraught because he can’t see anything with everyone standing up. If anyone happens to be in a box or something with extra seats, this is your chance to do a good deed.

This is where Pete Langdon at @unisouthampton.bsky.social Geography Dept goes back to Iceland in 2-3 yrs & collects sediment cores from lakes he studied previously for subfossil midges, re-analyzes them for mosquito subfossil remains, and BAM major research paper(s).

Pete, you owe me a beer mate.
Mosquitoes found in Iceland for first time as climate crisis warms country.

My final act as I leave Kingston #QueensU Homecoming - buying a fresh baguette from Pan Chancho which I will consume on the drive home as my late lunch/early dinner - yes, I will eat the whole baguette myself, I have walked/cycled across France & Spain so I know it is a fulfilling meal.

I brought my #Queensu Artsci'95 jacket out of storage for Homecoming and at some point this weekend I reached into an inner pocket and found the ticket stubs to the Homecoming games for the 5th and 10th yr reunions in 2000 and 2005.

In Kingston for #Queensu Homecoming.

In the early 1990s this locale was home of a revered late-nite eatery by the name of King of Donair.
Today, it is named House of Donair.
I hope it is of the same unbroken lineage, of sacred donair knowledge passed down through the generations...

Currently in Kingston for #Queensu Homecoming.

A story of inflation:
In the early 1990s, this Burger King at Princess St & Division in Kingston Ontario offered 5 Whoppers for $5 on Tuesday evenings. Now, they are offering 2 Whoppers for $10 & telling you it is some sort of "deal". Hmmkayyy budday.

You learn something new every day no matter how old you are. I'm walking the dog in Johnson Tew Park & came upon this sign next to a bird house 'Do Not Disturb! Ribbons Protect Bluebirds From Predatory House Sparrows'.
Huh, all these decades & I thought house sparrows were harmless to native birds.

It is so hot on one of the last days of September that there's a snake sunning itself on the sidewalk in front of my house. A very rare thing to say here in #HamOnt.
