DC. Food. Photos. Begrudgingly a #mariners fan. Willingly an #avfc fan.
@colinokeefe.bsky.social I don’t live in Seattle, and obviously I follow TVL for Mariners coverage, but I loved today’s post. Love that you took a stand on a big deal knowing it might potentially alienate some readers. Thanks for writing it.

And the idea that she takes offense at MPD not taking accountability is laughable. They’ve burned every ounce of trust they had in this city and they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Here's a transcript of Smith's full comments.

I get what she's saying (ie, this wasn't an order from the chief not to put the shooting in the report) but the q she's not answering: why would that officer suggest that? Wouldn't this unusual situation demand unusual transparency?

This is George “Love to Cheat” Springer erasure.
If I had to complain about anything in this Mariners/Jays series is there’s no bad guys

Hoping my Mariners fan friends live the dream (sweep every series, win world championship, pop champagne as meteor erases humanity, die on top and freed from Mariners baseball forever)

@popville.bsky.social Not sure what it was, but something happened at 14th and Monroe NW that closed the whole intersection

Holy shit that game was awful and agonizing and so so so good. Go Mariners. Might as well go win the whole fucking thing.

“If given the choice, would you prefer a punch to the face or a kick in the balls?”

Grim.
Interesting: I've gotten reports (and screenshots) of an online poll asking questions about a possible head-to-head contest between Chairman Phil Mendelson and former Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans for D.C. Council Chair. Mendelson has told me he's running for re-election.
October 7, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I also got this in Ward 1 and wondered the same thing. Given her entry into the Delegate race today it seems pretty clear it was a campaign mailer under the guise of council business.
Why is Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto sending me, someone who doesn't live in Ward 2, a glossy mailer?

I love the idea that the Mariners could celebrate three straight nights: for the postseason, division, and bye. All with the Rockies right there

This super great having your local affairs intruded upon by people you cannot vote for who do not care about you, don’t live here, have no interest in learning how your city functions, and are happy to use your home as a punching bag to score political points for their ignorant voters.
"You've allowed them to stay here," said Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) to Bowser about the National Guard being deployed in D.C.

"The president controls the D.C. National Guard," responded Bowser.

Teaching the basics of how D.C. works is fun.

For fucks sake. “Don’t hold them accountable! They might not use our free money!” Meeting deadlines is the absolute least they can do for a handout like this.
Bowser is urging the Council against adding any penalties for delayed housing construction as they "may undermine the District’s ability to close the deal and bring the Commanders back to DC."

Unclear whether any CM will try, but I think it's likely...

Barbecue, all of Mexican cuisine, pupusas, and Caribbean food? Plus a sneaky bit of Southern Spanish food and Moroccan food? G is such an easy choice.
For the rest of your life, you can only eat food from one of these regions. Which do you choose?

Our demand remains: all escalated federal forces out NOW. #FreeDC
August 28, 2025 at 5:43 PM
She had the chance to clarify and say “get the feds out now” and she didn’t. She wants this. She doesn’t give a shit about us.
I know there’s a lot of anxiety in our city.

DC residents are defending their city, promoting their city, and they are giving me ideas, talking to me, and trusting my judgement.

Let me be clear: The surge of federal resources should be focused on violent crime in our city.
