My uncle, who died in 2015, had been a police/crime #author starting in the 1980s and was at me for years that I could, and should, write #fiction. When I finally tried it, he told me he liked what he’d read and that I had to keep at it. His encouragement was what I needed.😁

Good morning #5amWritersClub,

I am determined to figure out what gets our little community interacting with each other! Today's question:

What made you decide it was time to start writing a book? Was it recent, or a lifelong desire?

A real CEO would be fired for speaking this way just once and Trump does it routinely. That millions feel this pig should be POTUS tells us sadly more about them than it does even about him. He should by now be a “1990s" trivia question: "The guy married to Ivana and whose casino went bankrupt?":

"My, my, my! Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains!" - Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart), in 'The Big Sleep.'
ICE agents draw handguns on unarmed observers in Minneapolis for documenting their actions. Guns escalate fear, not safety. Pointing firearms at civilians enforces silence through terror. Congress keeps funding this behavior. Own it. #FundHealthcareOverICE

Driving home from Gatwick yesterday after our week in Seville (I didn’t share pics or mention it on here because it did not feel “right” given what was going on in the States) and passing a famous site off the A303. (We shared the long drive. I was *not* at the wheel here.) #Stonehenge #travel

Indeed they know that, for example, lots of southern white men, in their tens of thousands, men who themselves usually had little in life, were willing to be blasted to smithereens charging up cliffs into cannon fire at Gettysburg to try to make sure Black Americans continued to have nothing at all.
I don't agree historians will be stunned, they've seen thIs throughout history, in the USA.

Fine, shutter the Kennedy Center until 2029. Then it can be reopened after Trump’s graffitied name is removed from that memorial he has tried to steal (like he has stolen from others his entire life). The ticket sales on reopening it will be gigantic.

But don’t you dare threaten their Medicare and Social Security.
Yep. To these people, the absolute worst thing someone can be is a Democrat.

I’m United Statesian. I cannot get over how if they had their way their Canada founded by 13 States’ refugees from the new USA during the 1780s/90s (while Trump’s were in Scotland and Germany) would be destroyed by the USA. If they want to be USian, they could emigrate to “the land of 1776.”
Is there anything more asinine than Canadians for Trump? 🤪

Whoa. Dems just flipped a Texas state senate seat in a district that Trump carried by 17 points. Not only that, but the win was decisive, making this an enormous swing. Plus, Republicans went all in to try to save the seat, to no avail.

If a person without “full authorization” to reside in the US witnesses, for example, someone shoot my father, I want that person not to fear to speak to local cops and if needed testify in court.

Federal DHS can do its own immigration enforcement role separately.

That is true “law and order.”
Real photo. 😂 not kidding.

If you want the money in a bank in Qatar to go to yet another Trump con job, why sure it is. (And curious choice of illustrative photo. These two better carry their US passports on them whenever they step outside of the house: “Don’t worry ‘bout the mask, just doin’ my job. So where y’all from?”)

The biggest problem in US politics for decades has been tens of millions have tuned out because they’re too busy keeping a roof over their heads. Not without good reason they feel government does nothing for them, so don’t care who’s in charge. If voters don’t participate, there cannot be democracy.
The media is only part of the problem.

It is illegal for ICE to detain U.S. citizens, full stop.

We’re in court reminding the Trump administration of our fundamental rights to due process and to live free from racial profiling.

And yet, if Springsteen were to be complimentary to him, Trump would preen about it endlessly.

Sour grapes. Trump wants to be given what Springsteen has earned SO BAD.

Trump's fully aware he has supporters among some longtime Springsteen fans (especially white men, Boomers and Gen X, particularly northeasterners and midwesterners) and is TERRIFIED those guys in marginal GOP districts may be influenced this November in their voting choice by The [REAL] Boss.

The 1787 Constitution’s failing. Post-Trump reforms should include 1-year House and 3-year Senate terms, and presidential “recall.” The executive’s far too strong, impeachment obsolete, and there’s too much time for a thug majority and criminal president to create mayhem before again facing voters.
Seeing the political amnesia in real time as people still think impeachment does anything

The headline is misleading. The piece is about the *Trump* *regime’s* racist governance driving Minneapolis into chaos… for *everyone* living there.

These paragraphs are bullshit.

1) This “administration” is not enforcing law; that is a pretext. It is engaged plainly in targeting non-whites.

2) There were no “open borders.”(You try entering with no passport.) Most being brutalized by masked thugs entered legally and were known to authorities.

He is right.

Americans may be misled into backing “Americanism.”

That is just fascism, of course, by another name, one that is also deliberately meant to get Americans believing they are backing patriots, not backing fascists.
The WSJ is really in denial mode.

Gump is the genuine deal, so there’s no insult there. But Rubio as Newton? That’s truly stupid. Seriously, that has to place this Vice President’s post pretty high near the top of any list of the stupidest thing a self-imagined genius like him ever tweeted.
January 29, 2026 at 5:52 PM
I would add this post is still correct even if you remove “on the Second Amendment” and “Constitutional” because Trump does not give a flying you-know-what about the Constitution generally. He is a fascist. “Law” is what he as “Dear Leader” says it should be.
Trump's view on the Second Amendment is clearly that people who agree with him have a Constitutional right to carry a gun.

We respect international law protecting diplomatic locations in the US so we keep our diplomats overseas from being targets for retribution.

It is also likely that ICE’s recent hires are thickos also so poorly trained they were never even told they cannot force entrance into a diplomatic building.
This morning ICE attempted to enter into the Ecuadorian consulate on Central Ave but were barred from entering. I spoke with Ambassador Yanez this afternoon and they want to make sure the Ecuadorian community knows it’s still safe to come to the consulate.

And I bet FNC “interpreted” this as Germans are “ungrateful” and “anti-American,” and not admit that those Germans make a good point: that Trump is a felonious neo-Confederate “1898”-imperialist “The Men Who Built America”-fantasist fascist idiot meatball.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
