This has been a disaster since Jan 7, 2021. That day, a new anti-coup opposition party should have been formed. Instead, we got stuck with “legacy” Dems v. GOP. Trump was then able to portray impeachment and the special counsel to much of the public as partisan Dems just going after him and the GOP.

As a lifelong NY Jets fan (I am old enough to remember Joe Namath actually playing), I was horrified when they signed him and could not watch them. I was never happier than when he left the team. I can watch now and I don’t even care if they don’t win again this year.

As I just said: race.

Back in the 1990s, an au pair [decidedly] white French [Catholic] woman I knew was on a bus below San Diego. INS stopped it. One officer asked if she was a citizen. She looked out the window and said, “Yeah.” He moved to “Latino” men behind her.

Nothing’s changed. It is about race, not religion.
