After a lifetime of being told about the character-building benefits of hard work, "easier school is less taxing for everybody" is whiplash-inducing.

They want us dumb and easy to control. The less we know about U.S. history/government, the easier it is for them to break the rules without pushback.
“Having fewer state tests required to graduate should be less taxing on educators, students and families alike," Mississippi State Superintendent Lance Evans said after the State Board of Education voted to eliminate the U.S. History assessment as a graduation requirement.
Mississippi Students No Longer Need U.S. History Test to Graduate
The Mississippi State Board of Education voted on June 19 to eliminate the U.S. History end-of-course assessment as a requirement for graduation.

As someone who, through necessity, is spending a lot of time on LinkedIn these days, it's frightening how much of the vibe there is about embracing AI as this game-changing tech that you need to get on board with if you want to succeed.
Columbia Journalism Review tested eight generative AI search tools and found their answers were wrong 60% of the time, and the paid ones actually fared worse than the free ones.

Meanwhile, millions of people trust the way they present total bullshit with confident language.
AI search engines cite incorrect sources at an alarming 60% rate, study says
CJR study shows AI search services misinform users and ignore publisher exclusion requests.

Your regular reminder—

To you, about yourself

& to you, about other people

That “being smart” & “having information” are not the same thing.

Lots & lots of very intelligent people don’t have information about things.

(Also some struggle to speak English. & some have obvious disabilities. And…)

Today, if you feel the need to make a big deal about why there isn't an International Men's day...

Instead, ask yourself, if it was really so important for men to have that extra validation, why didn't you already know that International Men's Day has been around since 1992?

America is over. There is no coming back from this.

If we're lucky maybe we claw back some small-l liberalism for our daily lives. But even that might be too much to hope for.

The rest of the world has to move on from us.

They now know that the American people can't be trusted.

They're right.

It is truly amazing how much of the US right now is driven by people who don't know how science works being conned by people who also don't know how science works but are willing to lie with gusto about it.

To be fair, some of these people don't know how *anything* works.

I don't hate technology, or tools that simplify complex things. But it feels like the underlying pitch of all AI products at this point is essentially: "Is thinking too hard? Has doing stuff become a burden? Let AI do it for you!"

And that's how JD Vance discovered that the Munich Security Conference folks don't enjoy amoral condescending pricks talking at them like they're stupid children.
JD Vance in Munich: "Speaking up and expressing opinions isn't election interference, even when people express views outside your own country and even when those people are very influential ... you guys can survive a few months of Elon Musk."
