Flat earther David Weiss has been sharing "conversations" he's had with ChatGPT in which he tries to trick it into admitting that the earth is flat. And while he can't get it to actually say that, it's a case study in LLMs feeding people's biases by avoiding directly challenging them.

As a job-seeker, I unfortunately spend a lot of time on LinkedIn, and the gallons of AI Kool-Aid people are drinking over there is staggering. According to "thought leaders", if you're not an expert on AI, you're behind the curve.

That's ultimately more marketing speak. The average person doesn't understand what a "large language model" is. But "AI" sounds sexy, and we have half a century of sci-fi providing context. Even if it is wildly misleading context.

Also, there are plenty of e-readers out there other than the Kindle. Yes, you may need to buy a new e-reader, but think of it as a long-term investment.

To clarify, the inability to read on Kindle is due to Amazon's DRM policies, and affects other sellers, as well.
They're currently working with Kobo to enable compatibility there.

In an effort to be fair, sometimes the issue isn't the actor/performer, but the editing. I don't remember Hannibal well enough to know which it might be.

As much as I appreciate your ability to cut through the BS, it's depressing to get these reminders of how many dudes really couldn't see that those dystopian novels weren't aspirational.

It is truly amazing how much of the US right now is driven by people who don't know how science works being conned by people who also don't know how science works but are willing to lie with gusto about it.
