i keep reading statements from democrats saying they find mahmoud khaleil's views to be abhorrent and despicable before going on to say that he should nonetheless be given due process. but no one has been able to demonstrate what khaleil's views are beyond the admin's assertions. except for cnn:

Newsom promotes a fascist who’s spent the last decade & a half tirelessly advancing propaganda saying that South Asians are subhumans who est literal shit & should be rounded up in cages. Let’s round up Newsom’s family and persecute them instead of us. Let’s platform people who want *his* kid dead.
Bannon gave a Nazi salute at CPAC less than a month ago. Newsom is normalizing fascism in a way that should ostracize the governor from polite society for the rest of his life. I don’t even care if he disagrees with Bannon the whole episode. This is normalization.
The next guest on California Governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast: Steve Bannon.

moral panics re "woke," "political correctness," etc were designed to make:

1. counter-cultural commitments to relational egalitarianism & mutual consideration seem like stodgy, censorious conformism;

2. degenerate commitments to bigotry & complacency seem like high-minded tolerance & defiance
Normalizing racism was a major goal of the “free speech absolutist” movement and they’ve been wildly successful at their work.
This probably would've been a career-defining bit of racism for any politician in a previous era

The way it works is that you strip fundamental rights from targets with less political support that people will turn their consciences off to justify persecuting and then eventually the state can do it to anyone, that’s always been the plan bsky.app/profile/pbum...
Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?

He was supposedly arrested for acitivities “aligned” to Hamas. Anyone who cares even a little about civil liberties should understand what an absurd and dangerous legal standard this is. Legal equivalent of a vibe check.

His wife was threatened, too — an 8 mo pregnant U.S. citizen
