Also a long time gamer, i love fps games, coop games and RTS.
2 week progress update:
I've managed to put together a dialogue system, Visual inventory, clock to display time og day, day counter and finally an animated player character. I've briefly started on the first NPC and a journal system.

#Godot UI is a really confusing thing to learn, but i feel i am slowly piecing it together. Learning about themes is very useful but if anyone has Godot UI tips, please share 🙏

Godot has become a viable game engine

Blender has become a viable 3D modelling AND animation tool

SteamDeck is now a fantastic "mobile" Desktop platform

AAA is shrinking / abandoning territory, ceding more genres to indie

Basically, (funding sitch aside) indie gamedev is seriously looking up!
Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.

My *planned* project has been cancelled due to being grouped with another classmate, and we both agreed to work on her game idea as we had similar ideas, but hers was a little more interesting. Will show updates as they come!

The joy of successfully creating an pop up overlay when you hit escape and a functioning quit game button. Small first step towards building my game in Godot.

I lied about working in Unity. I started, but switched over to Godot last week, and i feel its going better.
I absolutely love the engine!

I've officially started a new project. I will be working solo and doing everything from scratch, and this game is also a uni assignment with a 3 month deadline. Wish me luck!

I love it when i spend the better half of an hour troubleshooting two very small issues, end up rewriting the entire code to something worse, reorder it back to the original only to realise i forgot a <, - or + symbol 🥲

The biggest conundrum i am facing is do i wanna work on my game project now or do i wanna play games :D

Game idea is settled and the GDD has been laid out, it needs to be filled out more later, but its almost time to start prototyping!

Nah, mate, you spent a month becoming a dev who's now able to make that thing! :)

Trying to learn the rules of blueprints in Unreal Engine is not the same as i thought it would be to learn conventional programming languages.
I thought having done some C# and JS would prepare me a little more than this.

Made a procedural tiled path tool in Godot with some powerful features. This was made for Penguin Festival, but I'm sharing it for free here (meshes not included, bring your own) along with my other addons: github.com/CozyCubeGame...

WIP:

Demon style enemy from ABYSS X ZERO

I'm getting comfortable coding enemies with a huge movement pool. Bro got so many moves!!!

It's hard to find a balance between too simple and too overwhelming when it comes to how many moves a boss or enemy has!
