Some people undermine hopeful thoughts/ideas as though they are more worried about being right while in a bad situation, than daring to allow a hope-that could be dashed or come to fruition-into their heart and mind.
Hope leads to action.
Despair leads to giving up.
Be hopeful, my friends!

Two things of #knittinghorrorstory for ##showmeyourknits! I was an ambitious new knitter who cared not for gauges and swatches and just wanted to knit my heart out. I wanted to make this cute sweater and made the whole body, which fit like a glove. A very tight glove. That I couldn't take off. 1/8

These contiguous posts in my timeline show how companies, both big and small, can either devote themselves to the trivial and evil or the substantive and good.

Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Seems like every few months there’s a new study showing giving homeless people a small amount of money (instead of stealing their stuff and putting them in jail) results in them finding jobs and homes. We keep spending money on these studies rather than doing what they indicate will work.
Many, many, MANY studies show that the cumulative costs of harassing homeless people—cops, prison, jail, etc—are much more expensive than just housing them and providing income, and that doing those things helps people get to the point where they’re not in crisis any longer.
We choose cruelty.

There's a lot of things we know how to fix, but getting this knowledge into actionable policy is the hard part. Congrats, Baltimore!

I played rec softball last night for the first time in my adult life - I can't catch a ball to save my life, but I can stop one! We were TERRIBLE but had so much fun. This made me giggle about it.

Spent a good 2 hours pulling an embarrassing amount of mullein outside our fenced-in backyard this morning. It's mostly hillside and just a little treacherous. This is maybe a third of what needs to be done, but it's getting hot & my fingers hurt.

Story of my LIFE. I've been in a major knitting rut for over a month. Haven't touched a thing. Might try to remedy that today.
