It would be nice if this overwhelming, country-wide distrust of the US finally got the government to start looking into US ownership of Canadian news media.

I don't think it will, but it would still be nice.

no. this is pre-spin. an austerity budget but it's not an austerity budget

ITS AN AUSTERITY BUDGET

call things what they are and don't accept the government's framing and terms

look they're doing long weekend pre-spin. you all are such fragile control freaks

AND TAX THE RICH #BCbudget
It's NOT an austerity budget (this was repeated during the briefing)

BUT the focus will be cutting spending to reduce the deficit while protecting core services (education and health care specifically mentioned)

Those earning $150k or less will continue to pay the lowest income taxes in Canada

Canada's voting system is a joke but it's all we've got, and checking out of it achieves nothing. It's also just lazy. If you don't like the candidates, you can write in anything you want. You can spoil your ballot in protest.
There are ways to protest while still participating in the act of voting.

Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper is in the Epstein files and it is incumbent on Canadians to demand an investigation into Canadians that did ‘business’ with Epstein. It is awful, it is uncomfortable, and it requires our courage to root out corruption.

We also have fairly accurate stool testing that is way less invasive! Testing should probably start much earlier, especially in populations with low fiber/high red meat intake (ie, American men)

The only details these people care about in situations like this is the race and gender of the perpetrators

The reason they are fixated on those details is because they are bigots
From morning after Canada’s second deadliest school shooting on record. Almost as if reputable outlets take time to verify facts, or – just maybe – gender identity isn’t the most pressing issue when six children and two adults have been murdered.

It bears repeating that so much of the far-right alternative media ecosystem built itself up through its (sensational and often inaccurate) coverage of mass shootings, namely by identifying scapegoats or running interference

Their playbook for responding to this stuff is formulaic at this point
Rebel Media's Drea Humphrey posted a "breaking" news tweet claiming to have "confirmed the identity of the mass shooter" with an accompanying photo

The tweet was deleted without explanation several minutes later

The Toronto police union getting mad that the Inspector General is ordering a province-wide review of policing is very funny to me. Why? You don't have anything to hide, do you? Just comply! If you haven't done anything wrong, there won't be trouble!
