Apologies cause this is going to be a very long thread.

My dad was a preacher. This past week was our annual meeting for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. During the conference, there was a Service of Remembrance for all the clergy who died during the past year. 1/2
A picture of my father from some time in his eighties. He's dressed in a light colored suit with a white shirt and a darker tie. There's an Anerican flag pin in his lapel. The spreadsheet on this clay tablet, which is almost 4,000 years old, is organised into columns for furrowed area, grain produced, land not sown, and the field’s name.

The first field is called “Of the soldiers who stood in for their fathers”.

It’s ancient Excel, but I find that incredibly moving

While Kent worked to open his own beautiful vet hospital in 2021, Jen was there to help, managing the hospital’s social media and making graphics and being an extra pair of hands whenever and wherever he needed. Kent’s gigantic heart meant that he never turned anyone away because of their inability to pay-so A Little Extra was born, to help cover those costs for people and pets. Kent died suddenly in June, 2024, and we are all still reeling from that loss.
