Prince Andrew can no longer be Duke of York (a ceremonial title) because of Epstein, but Donald Trump can still be President of the United States (a position of staggering real-world authority) *despite* Epstein.

Quite a stark contrast we are being offered here.

I will never not understand how a minority of people have decided that wind farms - significantly prettier than pylons, coal power plants, nuclear power plants, and almost certainly fusion power plants - are ugly. In terms of energy generation, what else are you hoping for that is better?
On holiday, I notice that there are wind turbines on the shore of Lake Garda, which very much makes me think that residents with a view of some incredibly mid Cotswold or other can put a sock in it.

David Fickling: Blaming renewables for Spain's blackouts is like the ancients blaming thunder & lightning on warring gods 😂

No, Renewables Didn’t Cause Spain’s Grid Blackout
Shifting to clean generation might occasionally trip, but the effects are short-lived, and easily fixed.

One lesson of the local elections is that it's time to take Reform seriously, not just as a political movement but as a possible party of government.

So I spent a few days digging into their economic plans—and found hair-raising, Truss-adjacent stuff.

We have invested trillions ensuring we can store water, medicines, food and fossil fuels but it’s heresy to suggest we spend money ensuring we do what’s possible to store electricity.

Wild that 28% of Tory voters don't believe humans are causing climate change.

The figure is quite high for UK population as a whole, at 17%.

Yet it's 4yrs since the IPCC upgraded its certainty on our role in causing climate change, calling it "unequivocal". Lotta people didn't get the message.

Data from UK Steel indicates that UK wholesale electricity prices were over double those in Spain

Spain has 40% wind and solar generation (higher than the UK) and a Net Zero target identical to the UK

The UK has a Gas and market problem not a Renewables or Net Zero problem.

2024 and 45% of German electricity came from Wind and Solar and no nuclear (GB 34% wind and solar)

Apparently adding more Renewables increases electricity prices.

It's been obvious since January 6 that he was an enemy of the USA, the UK & the whole of the free world. Everybody still in his camp understands this as completely as everybody against it. They just prioritise personal interest over the national & international. And they know it. They all know it.

Every AI tested finds that man made climate change is real and one of the worlds biggest threats. However grok3 now includes ‘balance’ which means the usual fossil fuel lobbyists debunk it.

I’d say grok3 is useless as an AI tool

Fossil Fuel Lobbyists

“Gas Generation (and electricity) is expensive as wind power makes Gas Power Stations run less.

Also

“We should build more Gas as we transition to Nuclear Power”

So we can have even more Gas running less and charging us more

Make it make sense 🤔

We have all witnessed another week of manufactured hysteria by the fossil fuel lobbyists. The grid was about to collapse, Gas saving the day, Renewables are useless.

So worth reflecting in the ‘horrendous week’

Fossil fuel generation was 38%
Renewables generation 31%

So to be clear then.

Gas generation is now simultaneously lowest cost base load, primary generation, the only thing keeping the lights on whilst being “back up, peaking generation” that demands obscene operating costs.

My god. Part of UK media are now suggesting that limiting new North Sea licences is the reason people are struggling with their heating bills.

We introduced the winter fuel allowance back in 1997 due to the cost of heating our homes with gas and kerosene
