100 miles from the border is not a "reasonable distance." No reasonable person regards a place 100 miles away as being "on the border." Gettysburg may have been a "border town" in 1863 but no "reasonable" person would call it that now. Change this unreasonable law.

it set in for me how big this was when i saw a real estate content creator in minneapolis make a video about how he was detained and targeted by ICE for following them to protest. this is hitting everyone in their community
Seeing a bunch of normal ass midwestern moms and dads marching in -20 degrees knowing they might be tear gassed or worse really drives home what a cowardly lot of people the pundit class is

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.

We could talk about whether we got the "good cyberpunk" but what's important I think is a good 50 years of film and comics were trying really, really hard to make you think about this exact sort of image, and to internalize that if you saw this sort of image you should have an intense reaction to it
