RIP Paul Caponigro. Love his work and have two of his photographs. Including a "Desert Plant, Badlands, SD" that I'm pretty sure was the exhibition print from Caponigro's first show, a group show at the Carl Siembab gallery on Newbury St., Boston, in December 1959. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/a...
Paul Caponigro, Photographer in Love with Nature, Dies at 91 (Gift Article)
He photographed landscapes, deer, sunflowers and still lifes. “I knew that the forces of nature were a language,” he said. “Nature was really my teacher.”

Working to make friends with this #crow and his two little buddies that live near us. They came by early this morning so I put out peanuts and dry cat food. This one, the biggest, is bold but the other two are shy...so far.

@debcha.bsky.social somehow this thread made me think of you & your eclectic interests!
The smell of that coal smoke (now almost extinct) is one of many toxic nostalgia smells I have—brown coal smoke, 90s European cigarette smoke, diesel fumes, and the smell of the horrible smog of the 1970s San Fernando Valley. Maybe somewhere someone is writing about toxic olfactory nostalgia…

@swordsjew.bsky.social loved "The Confession", thanks for sharing
Archaeologists in Germany have unearthed a sword from a Bronze Age burial, and the weapon is in such good condition that it still gleams. The 3,000-year-old sword, discovered in the town of Nördlingen in Bavaria, was found in the burial of a man, woman and child.

Squid eggs come in all shapes and sizes. From "mops" of egg cases containing many squid eggs, to the slinky like egg masses of diamondback squids, to individual meringue dollop like eggs of bobtail squids to even egg masses that some squid mothers carry around.

Wow.

TL;DR: Bill Willingham is the lovely creator/writer of the Fables series of comics created for DC. He owns (or owned) the intellectual property rights. Due to reasons in the article - which amount to shenanigans from DC and his own philosophy - he decided to give the IP to the public domain.

Here, below, is the press release I sent out today to explain what I did and why.

Reskeet with something you own that most people don’t.

Patti Smith album Horses signed by her & all band members, signatures collected by me at release in Boston and later signed by producer John Cale when I, a shy youth, brought some albums to a green room before a basement show of his.
