Like most things in my life, this has been a huge mistake

sure but i think it's at least equally as likely that he's just a huge dipshit who hired a bunch of ex murdoch gossip rag guys to run his vanity paper
the fact that wapo is closing every single part of the newspaper that attracts readers in order to focus on vertical short form video and opinion columns makes it very clear that the bezos takeover isn't about business. it's not even about propaganda. it's about showing off his power and clout

bro is literally falling asleep during the presser
Q: Pope Leo cited Matthew 25:35 to critique Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda. How would you respond to Pope Leo in scripture?

MIKE JOHNSON: Sovereign borders are biblical and right and just. It's not because we hate the people on the outside. It's because we love the people on the inside.

In Nazi Germany, people mocked Reich officials for being unpopular, incompetent, sweaty losers. These so-called “whisper jokes” proliferated as a way to express discontent.
The power of mocking Trump’s pathetic monsters
It's impossible to ignore the administration's blend of violent repression and overwhelming cringe.

Some great performances, but also goddamn, it does not let up at all.
Watching ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ and I don’t know if a movie has ever stressed me out this much. We’re on our third break so far.

there's a little thought that I think whenever I see one of these new terrors. I will never speak it out loud, but I think it all the same.

Even if you’re a royalist the Tarquins were uh not considered good at the whole thing?
was directly inspired by briefly dating a v posh Tory in my twenties and at some point, when he was off to some birthday party, going "have fun with the Tarquins!" and that's when he revealed he knew not one but two of them

There’s something surreal about listening to a podcast about romantasy books, because as they’re describing the dumbest, most predictable thing possible they seem to keep eliding the obvious which is that a popular thing can actually be not very good.

I’m a broken record, but the only thing he had to do to avoid impeachment was literally nothing. Trump is not playing 5d chess. He is the author of his own destruction.
Impeachment is his biggest fear.

"Despite his return to the White House this year, he frequently complains privately and publicly about Democrats’ efforts to remove him from office in his first term...

And he is fearful that he might have to go through it all again."
Fear of Losing the Midterms Is Driving Trump’s Decisions
The specter of investigations and impeachment has fueled many of the president’s most dramatic actions.

Yeah uh, someone told me about it
I'm not going to post screenshots for obvious reasons but I have been alerted that a bunch of the top posts in r/MassiveCock are anti-ICE now and anyone who defends ICE in comments is getting yelled down lol

Just finished Black Bag and it was entertaining but I’ve seen in on a number of ‘must watch’ lists and uh it was fine?

Clearly did not understand how intelligence works, and probably would have been better keeping everyone just “spies” instead of using terms like “sigint”.

What time does the beer light go on at the pentagon these days, anyone know?

This is a good thread, but I think something that gets confused by the way we use terms like "free market" is that most of these terms are not actually well defined, and like 'capitalism' itself, even the left even ends up adopting frames that benefit the class of capital owners.
8. You cannot have both a free market in media ownership and a free market in information and ideas. The oligarchs who dominate the sector stifle inconvenient thoughts and promote the policies that protect their fortunes.

Thank you for ensuring that my hard earned tax dollars continue going to snatching five year olds off the street.
I’ll keep plugging away to make sure that Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars are being invested in an effective, durable, and responsible way.

I know I’m quickly becoming the “only read one book” guy or w/e, but Machiavelli posits that the main motivation of the masses is not to be oppressed. The polling seems to bear this out, and I don’t think democrats should ignore it.
I will repeat: It is not obvious, based on the data, that campaigning on the economy in Nov would be significantly more effective than campaigning on immigration. Gov. policy is dramatically out of step with the public on immigration/deportations, and executive overreach is a potent motivator

It's fascinating how the "solution" to mass systemic problems under this logic is always deep personal introspection about the mass weight of history instead of like, joining with other people to do something.

I provided support to NATO forces in Afghanistan during the *first* trump admin. This is just false on the face of it.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Proscription.

The masks will only hide their identities until the records come out; arresting officers, per diem, etc, these are all things in a file cabinet in DHS. The lists need to be ready.
Gross as hell. We are currently paying for ICE bounty hunters to do this to Americans

His actual complaint is that the rules based international order did not benefit *him* specifically.
Can’t be emphasized enough that the US-led global order has been to US advantage.

Trump’s complaint is basically: You accepting that we’re No. 1, with international institutions and conventions tilted in our favor—because you benefit from it too—was really unfair to us, let’s make it worse for all.
