As Ted Cruz urges a seizure that will break NATO, remember the two Senators viewed as orchestrators of Trump's Jan 6 plan were Cruz and Josh Hawley - both political proteges of Peter Thiel. Neither has ever broken with Thiel, or with Trump. Both, like all Thiel avatars, push Putin's interests. 1/
Cruz: "When it comes to Greenland, I want to commend President Trump for being single-mindedly focused on America first... I believe it is overwhelmingly in America's national interest to acquire Greenland... the whole history of America has been a history of acquiring new lands and new territories"

Cowardice asks the question, is it safe?
Expediency asks the question, is it politic?
Vanity asks the question, is it popular?
But conscience asks the question, is it right?

ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

Make America Go Away 🤣😭👏🏼
In Copenhagen, demonstrators chanted "Greenland is not for sale" and wore red baseball caps saying "Make America Go Away" as they marched to the U.S. embassy.

In Greenland 20,000 (a little under half the island's population) led by Prime Minister, carried flags and marched to the U.S. consulate.

Given the timing, we consider this to be targeted harassment as punishment for exercising our First Amendment rights.

We're still handing out free whistles. And we just got in hundreds of new yard signs.

Keep resisting, Minnesota. We love you.

Does Trump understand that the "insurrection Act" is a law thats intended to stop an insurrection? Because he seems to think he can use it to create his own insurrection.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Resist 🔥

Your resistance does not have to be perfect. Just resist fascism every day in large and small ways. It really does make a difference. Fighting to keep your freedom is easier than fighting to get it back.

I know a lot of people outside of Minnesota are starting to think about what they need to do to prepare for ICE coming to their city.

Hanging out with people with good politics is a great starting place. Set a weekly thing with your friends who are as horrified as you are.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

Everyone is talking about a civil war or WW3 but they're wrong. That's the wrong model. What we're actually facing is our own people standing on our necks and threatening to shoot us for complaining. This moment in history requires a second revolutionary war. It's 1776, not 1939 or 1861.

The number of people on Bluesky who think that the answer to a fascist coup of your government is to be passive... Well it's disheartening.

This is why I say dems are enabling fascism. Because their rhetoric convinces people to roll over.

They're not an opposition party. They're complicit.

I believe that current Democrat members of Congress could be doing much MUCH more to oppose Trump's fascist demolition of the Constitution.

They are spineless!! I’ll never believe in Dems or republicans ever again. The 2 party system is certainly an issue but you would think someone would be willing to stand up against Tyranny.. apparently not.

I don't understand why they're allowed any conveniences at all in a community where they're beating and murdering the citizens. No more cushy hotel rooms with wifi or delicious meals in restaurants. If they want to act like soldiers let them sleep in tents and eat military rations.

I just heard that the latest rumor is Senate Dems are offering to increase funding for ICE in exchange for body cams and descalation training.

I am ENRAGED at the cowardly and stupid attempt at appeasement for minor concessions.

Goddammit who is going to lead this fight?!!

To recap: we’ve now seen two ICE goons point their guns at unarmed protesters heads— at protests about them shooting a woman in the head.

These guys are so out of control.

ICE apparently lacks capacity to oppress more than one city at a time.

This is performative authoritarianism.

performative authoritarianism that has killed people, yes. It’s not a joke.

But it is also incapable of any sort of meaningful authoritarian consolidation.

They lack the numbers to win.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

which means the best position here you can take to justify this, assuming there was contact which again the video doesn't prove, is "it's a righteous shoot if you make any contact with any agent for any reason" which is obviously insane

Reposting my reaction to the Renee Good murder.

I've seen all the video footage many, many times. I've seen it so much that I feel physically ill. And the more I see it, the more I think maybe it's worth dying to stand up to this. Because I don't want to live in a world where they win.
