After many months, I feel a bit of radio mojo coming back. Ordered a QMX & I think I might order a Gabil carbon fibre mast - not the cheapest thing going, but might make for an interesting super light self-supported setup at around 216gm www.gabilradio.com/product/1966...
GRA-CF5200 Carbon Fiber Antenna – 520cm / 17ft
Explore the GRA-CF5200: a 10-section carbon fiber whip antenna that extends to 520cm and weighs just 214g. Includes M10-1.0P to 3/8-24 adapter. Built for mobile and outdoor ops.

NatWest Bank in Greenwich closed…and has now been replaced by a ScrewFix (there are two already within 2 miles radius!). Let’s hope their signage didn’t fall off already😬. I have nothing against ScrewFix…but I think the community might have been better served by banking facilities 🤔

Apologies to any vegetarians reading…but this steak pie looks absolutely spectacular! Next time I’m lucky enough to be at Fallow, I hope they have this on the menu! youtu.be/XE6JvrChQ_Q?...

Ok, I've gone over to the dark side temporarily... After seeing posts on here about the tiny Cardputer running FT8, I had to give it a go. As of last night, there's an MD5Launcher compatible version of Mini-FT8 available on GitHub. It's pretty impressive and soooooo teenyweeny!

The Cardputer ADV board arrived today for portable ft8 work. It’s absolutely tiny at < 10cmx7cm. Looking forward to building mini-ft8 for this setup github.com/wcheng95/Min...

My son has expensive cologne habits…he must douse himself in his favourite scent (Frederick Malle’s Vetiver Extraordinaire) and at £250/bottle, goes through at least 2 bottles a year. My wife has just defended him however…and pointedly remarked that my own scent addiction is also not cheap😳🫢

Help…I’ve been sucked into a Netflix KDrama vortex (Can This Love Be Translated). Released today, there’s a real risk I’ll finish all 12 episodes by the early hours of tomorrow morning at this rate😱. The only thing that will disrupt that trajectory is the Indian restaurant we plan to visit tonight😳

Weeks after finishing the KDrama ‘Moon River’, this track from the OST is still living in my head rent free. I really (really!) want to see the singer, Song Sohee, in concert… youtu.be/ix--dm564MY

That'll do for some soldering practice. This is the uSMD board (github.com/arthurbenema...), small caps are 008004 = blooming small. Yes, there's loads of space and generous footprints but still a decent challenge. 0805 resistor at top for scale

It really isn't worth the risk. Keeping old electronic items with lithium ion ( #Li-Ion ) batteries in the house is far too dangerous unless in an explosion and fireproof container! These were just left in a drawer.

Bought my wife some hand-made book binding scissors for Christmas. At almost a foot long, these are definitely serious tools! Sheffield scissors are still the best in the world, and makers Ernest Wright & William Whiteley still lead the pack

I used the watch the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures every year with my Dad. He often tried to get tickets, but we only ever managed to go to mid-year lectures - still a treat though! Explains a great deal about my love of science and maths.
Guys guys guys, I found the archive of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures (it's not an achievement, they've not hidden them) - you can watch every single one since they started televising them in the 60s:

I love watching them every year, now I can see them all!
