I am gonna go out on a limb and say that a Jersey dude so horrified that he went to his first protest and is trying not to cry on camera has a pretty good chance of staying radicalized. And that while Bluesky loves to pick apart things like this, this kinda video moves the needle for OTHER dudes.

Having read of the Washington Post’s radical downsizing, I searched, found the NY Times and WSJ each still employ 1500 to 2000 editorial employees. (As do, surprisingly, the network news divisions.) The #3 and #4 newspapers, the Post and LA Times, each have staffs of 300 to 400.

One of the problems in mid-2010s counterterrorism commentary and analysis (often advanced by fools / cranks like Seb Gorka) was that every recruit the Islamic State encouraged to come to Syria or Iraq was somehow a theologian as well.
Most of the time they're just thugs looking for a victim.

This is why the people who show up to protests ready to burn things down aren’t “allies” with “different tactics.” Overwhelmingly they’re there for the thrill of rationalized violence; they will find some way to commit some violence against somebody if they have the thinnest excuse.
Had an IC class where I read a bunch of interviews with former warlord/terrorist recruits and it was very interesting how many of them were using ideology as a vehicle for violence instead of using violence to pursue an ideology. "Excitement" was one of the main reasons a lot of them joined!
