MLS is nearly insufferable right now, so restructuring the competition format and playoff structure is a much more palatable proposal than the calendar change by itself. The league should lead with that, and use it as the foundation for showing fans why a calendar change matters in that context.

Ignoring both the law and will of the people to sell out FOR ANOTHER PARKING LOT in a sea of parking lots is a new level of absurdity and destructive behavior.
BREAKING: by a vote of 10-5, the St. Louis Board of Aldermen votes to ignore the city charter, circumvent the will of the voters, and sell a city park to some developers to turn it into a parking lot.
Mayor Spencer is expected to sign the bill, and a lawsuit is expected to swiftly follow.

FWIW, St. Louis ranks 13th in salary spending on defenders, 25th on attackers, 2nd in goalkeepers, 13th on midfielders, and 19th overall. They had two of the top 10 highest paid defenders in the league. #AllForCITY

This 'reloading' versus 'rebuilding' construct Tom notes is interesting as Kansas and St. Louis start to take increasingly divergent paths in their attempts to rebound from two years of awful soccer. #AllForCITY

I can appreciate the logic here, but that also puts tremendous faith in and pressure on the incoming sporting director to make a lot of deals with guys we acquired as castoffs, and who contributed to finishing in the bottom third of the league. Maybe sensible but risky? #AllForCITY
And picking up their options doesn't mean they're playing next season. Teams could still look to move players and get something in return rather than letting them walk for nothing.

If the #AllForCITY decision on Sporting Director dazzles and inspires optimism, Critchley as manager is fine. If the decision is unimpressive or dubious (like Lutz and Olof were), more scrutiny will be applied to the managerial choice, and in that case, I'm not sure Critch is enough. Time will tell.

Happy times at the #AllForCITY STH event at the zoo. It's nice to be surrounded by CITY fans who are generally in a joyous mood. Haven't had much of that this year. 🫶
