Fantastic piece. Captures everything I’ve admired about Gunn.
I wrote a piece on the work of writer and director James Gunn, who is engaged in a pretty incredible ongoing enterprise that despises bigotry and authoritarianism and reaffirms patriotism for progressives. www.vulture.com/article/jame...
James Gunn’s American Project
He is few critics’ idea of a respectable auteur, but his work is more consistently progressive than any other comic-book material today.

I’m onto you, WB…

A very happy pub day to Math Cats from Dr. Daniel Look. Every step of the way, I worried it was too ridiculous to work. And it proved to be ridiculous enough to work.

🎂✨ Happy Birthday, Queer Mythology! ✨🎂

One year ago, this book of queer myths and legends entered the world. Since then, it’s been read, shared, taught, and celebrated. 🌍📚

At its heart is a truth: we have always existed. From Tu’er Shen to Lakapati to Xochipilli, our stories are ancient and alive.

At 7, I was obsessed with Child’s Play despite my mom’s wish I wouldn’t watch it.
At 43, I’m now seeing its creator share (and praise) a book I developed.

Never stop loving the things that shaped you.

(my mom was proud to see this, btw.)

Rewatching SUSPIRIA for the umpteenth time, and it occurs to me that Jessica Harper is essentially giving a “sole human actor in a Muppet movie” performance.

Peacemaker’s season premiere really embraced DC’s tried-and-true approach to reboots. Loved it.

It brings me such weird joy knowing Lloyd Kaufman appears in both Rocky and Superman. He’s got the market cornered on American icons. Thanks for making it happen @jamesgunn.bsky.social!

It’s like he’s the Earth-3 Superman, if that Earth was evil AND stupid.
Dean Cain has joined ICE. From Superman to an ICE Agent is the biggest heel turn since Paralax.

Great write-up on a brilliant work.
Nice to get this write-up in Psychology Today, even if it's coming three decades after pub! 😁 -- “Mysterious Skin”: When Male Trauma Finally Found Its Voice | Psychology Today www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/un-n...
“Mysterious Skin”: When Male Trauma Finally Found Its Voice
The 1995 novel "Mysterious Skin" still stands out today because honest portrayals of grooming and child sexual abuse remain rare.

I hate when Superman goes woke and political, like in the sixth panel on the first page of Action Comics #1

When y’all were talking about 28 Years Later taking some big swings, I never imagined that referred to those shots of Alpha running. 👀

Identity Crisis would be heralded as one of the best 21st century superhero stories if it was non-canon and released as a Black Label title. (Apart from the Sue Dibny assault, which could go.)
What comic book opinion would have you like this?

Should I be embarrassed by the amount I spent on custom steelbook cases for my copies of the Ghostbusters movies? Probably. Am I? Not at all. Designed to capture the spirit (see what I did there?) of the original VHS. (One of my first; a gift from my grandparents once my family got a VCR).
