Hi, all. I'm Valerian, I mostly just talk about games and whatever random thing crosses my mind. I'm mainly into RPGs and strategy games, like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Baldur's Gate 1-3, Disco Elysium, Star Control II, Vicky, Stellaris, etc.

Both posts here from Pat are spot-on. I've sunk thousands of hours into some games, but if someone who's played a few hours tells me they're a fan? COOL! Let's talk! We don't need to be weird and off-putting about our shared hobbies. It's not a contest, like he says.
No one has dominion over what games/franchises you choose to be a fan of.
- Plays a game for thousands of hours for years.
- Watches a Let's Play video of the same game.
Both of these can be fans of the same game for their own reasons.
HOW they found appreciation in it is personal—and valid.

Honestly threw my teenage self into total shock (in the best possible way) when a 90's game utilized a lead protagonist who created an entire psychosis because his main character flaw is basically about suffering from issues of toxic masculinity.
i think one of my favorite things about #CloTi and, I guess as a trope in general, is the "I'm going to become someone worthy of you"

It's strange finding myself with multiple people who are literally family to me at this point. It feels so amazing knowing I have people I can absolutely trust and rely upon. Sometimes it's overwhelming in the best possible way - I just feel emotionally stunned at how fortunate I am.

I'm doing a lot better lately. I'm still having down moments but I'm bouncing back a lot more quickly. I've had a lot of really good, meaningful conversations with friends over the past few weeks and they're really helping me figure out what I want and how to actually get there. It's wonderful.

I wish I could go back in time & tell me of five, ten, fifteen, twenty, etc years ago that all I have to do is hold on because I'll eventually wind up with the love & support I now get from my friends every day. Things would have been so much easier (and I'd have made less mistakes) if I had known.

No one can make me happy but me, so I've decided to throw myself into that. Other people can help, be a part of it, etc - but people could give me everything in the world and I'd still be unhappy until I work on some things that make up my fundamental being. I'm doing well, but need to do more.
