My banner photo comes from the page for The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, illustrating their ‘Night Garden’ exhibition, beginning Sat. 15th Nov. 2025. They refer to her as “The Heligan Mud Maid’ on their page but I always think of her as ‘The Sleeping Goddess’. She’s very beautiful, anyway.

It would help so much if you could RT my post above about my etsy shop.I confess I've really struggled with pretty severe mental illness this yr which has prevented me from working for much of it. A repost will put my shop in front of a few more eyes.I appreciate your support here so much, thankyou🌿

I can hardly wait to see this when it's created. It'll be absolutely brilliant.
I'm going to buy myself a tiny Christmas tree👇 (that doesn't cost a limb plus my firstborn) & make all its decorations by hand. Younger daughter is *very* much in.Will post what we make. There'll probs be tiny handmade festive owls & gently twinkling yuley ammonites. Doing it for my mental 'elf.Yep🌲🧠
When my depression’s especially bad I bring myself to the garden centre for the very good fractals. Ngl I’m tempted to buy myself a tiny Christmas tree & handmake all the decorations as a project to help my brain.🌿
PS I found that rowan leaf on the ground.

Do yourself (your Self) a favour and read this rather creepy and disquieting story. It'll be worth it.
"Today, as we are all only too aware, a ringing phone is invariably something to hide from. Who, of our friends, actually calls us any more, unless it is to convey bad news? As for the other people who use the phone, unscheduled, to speak to us, what do they boil down to?"

I’ve just finished reading ‘Everything Will Swallow You’ by @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social and thought I’d write a review. While it’d be better not to buy it from the world-eating online store that shall not be named, a review there might be useful.

The magical and beautiful art of Sam Cannon.
One newish picture, but otherwise, awfully old pictures. Especially those beach huts. But I love the words in it.

The moon is beautiful tonight and never gets less inspiring.

This book is truly weird in parts but really hugely entertaining and deserves to be read and loved.
Any shares of this much appreciated! When my ex-publishers collapsed, taking over £20,000 of my earnings with them into the void, all my books suffered but none more than 1983. This is me trying to repair that. It’s about:
Childhood
Education
Aliens
Alpacas
The East Midlands
The old future we lost
Hello! My CEO Roscoe and I are giving away TWO signed copies of my novel 1983 to two randomly selected people who repost this & pop a reply below. You also get a free postcard of this illustration of Roscoe by my mum.

It’s been called “Stranger Things rewritten by Kurt Vonnegut & Sue Townsend”…

Happy Samhain, this sacred festival has been cheapened into scary thrills and plastic tat. The ancient festival is about illness and death, the ancestors and the spirits that haunt our minds and our land. As we descend to the dark, let us embrace it #dartmoor #devon #halloween #samhain #photography

Reading is food for your mind. Like food, different reading choices serve different purposes. Some books are read for pleasure; some to satisfy a need. Some are like junk food; great as long as that's not all you eat. Some help to counter an imbalance in knowledge or experience. Variety is the key.

The National Trust has offered me the chance to "win a scone experience". Intrigued by what this might entail. I have to assume it's more than just eating some scones and at least the chance to become a scone for a day, get covered in jam & cream & experience the full range of emotions of a scone.

I post bits and bobs on Bluesky but this is where my real writing is: www.tom-cox.com

It's a door to many many things.

Some of it is free, but for a minimum of £2 a month/£20 a yr you can have access to everything new I write, plus an archive of 100s of 1000s of words.
