are you bored today? spend an hour with me while i discuss how American urban planning cannot solve the problems of neoliberal capitalism because American urban planning IS neoliberal capitalism.
Should transit be free? I'll let you know in my latest.

We shouldn't live our lives based on Victorian proverbs nor should we plan out a socialist future using neoliberal anti-poor policies. Where do these two things intersect? At the 30% rule - the idea that housing is affordable as long as it's under 30% of your income. youtu.be/ilVjEv91adE

is it more vindicating or more depressing that all of the most heinous people i've coordinated with at FTA are delighted to tell us environmental justice is dead? my career has taught me that believing transit should not exist and working for a transit agency are not mutually exclusive things.

*study shows that increases in market rate development do not result in increases in affordability for low cost units*

elizabeth warren: we are going to pay developers to build more market rate units!
Americans are suffering under the weight of sky-high housing prices.

Today, I’m re-introducing my bill with @warnock.senate.gov and @cleaver.house.gov to build 3 million new homes, bring down rents by 10%, and cut red tape that drives up costs.

Congress must act.
Why housing affordability keeps getting worse
Rising prices and a shortage of affordable homes have driven many folks to rent.

The neoliberals who got us to this place—whose triangulation and capitulation undermined progress for the working class—now think we should “roll over and play dead” rather than vigorously fight these fascists. I don’t know why anyone still listens to these pundits of yesterday.

do the yimby underlings notice that every one of their thought leaders is coming out against trans rights and immigration or are they ignoring what’s in front of them like always?

i got into a niche hobby and have been watching tons of vids by small channels on youtube. awesome to see so many creators who are making videos for the love of the hobby. but now the algo is giving me a lot of micro channels (under 500 subs) that solely discuss how to be successful on youtube.

things are bad right now for sure, but things have been bad for decades- for longer even. please take care of yourself but remember that neoliberalism (and fascism) depend on you becoming demobilized by its spectacle. try to find your role.

this site is easily the most libbed up place on the internet right now, but i’m still taken aback by how many bluesky users seem to think that if we could bring the government back to what it was 2 months ago then everyone would have a good life again.
