AND I just got an email from the company that handles my FSA, and they're like "Good news! You can connect our service to your health insurance for faster processing."

You mean... the company that just lost probably the most crucial private data I have?
I just got one of those data breach letters in the mail. You know, the ones we get all the time now. This time, the breach was at a company hired by my health insurance. Somebody had access to their data for *THREE MONTHS*, and they got my birthdate and SSN.

"Are you sure God is okay with idolatry? I could have sworn he said something about that..."

"Nah bro, he's completely on board. I asked him!"

"You did?"

"Yeah!" *holds up phone* "See?"

A new state-by-state evaluation of the projected energy and water use of "AI" data centers in the US. Looks… real bad. Like, "undoing tech sector climate gains" bad.

Strongly recommends immediately ensuring any & all new "AI" data centers to run on existing & expanded renewables grids. Which… yeah.

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

This whole premise is a nightmare, particularly the part where the AI calls stores for you (if I ever had to answer a call from an AI I'd set the phone on fire) but my favorite part is that they tried to demo the service in a press briefing, had wi-fi problems, and abandoned the demo.

"He wasn't a monster, he just waited until after the girls went through puberty to rape them" is quite a statement to purposely put into the public record
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

I already live the life of not being able to take NSAIDs like ibuprofen. The things I would do just to lick a tablet of Naproxen would get me suspended from Bluesky. You know what's left when you can't get NSAIDs? Unregulated supplements and fad diet scams.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

Called @durbin.senate.gov at 202 and 312 offices but there is no voicemail option, and called @duckworth.senate.gov and her voicemail is full. Will email and try to call tomorrow. Also will try the 312 office again, sometimes it's easier to get through.

I too have issues with phone calls, even voicemails, and I might have flubbed a word or two reading from my pre-written script, yet I have lived to tell the tale. If you are able and feeling feisty enough to overcome any barriers you have, this is a good phone call to make.
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

90% of the people I see daily at the library are normal about my mask which is awesome. But the remaining 10% are always medical professionals (especially nurses) being nosy as fuck, or speakers I have hired to do presentations, people I am about to pay who have the audacity to say that shit to me.
Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Bad: got harassed on the train for wearing a mask

Good: I told him the reason I'm wearing it is I got surgery to replace my mouth with a second butthole, and the power I felt when he looked disgusted and left was intoxicating

I love seeing pushback against AI criticism that names other widespread notoriously problematic technology. Like, YES. They are both a huge problem that we need to do something about, I'm glad you agree
I saw somebody on tumblr smugly posting that LLMs are not actually any worse for people's mental health than any other form of social media, and everyone that thinks it is is just a silly alarmist luddite, and it pissed me off so bad I'm still thinking about it months later
