They are literally firing all the judges they think might grant relief. They just fired a friend of mine a couple hours ago. They have no shame. The bastards want an assembly line for deportations and nothing more; rubber-stamping bootlickers who’ll yes’sir at every new diktat to deny.
Instead of hiring more immigration judges, the Department of Justice just posted an ad for "deportation judges." join.justice.gov

Specifically Trump is an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical guy. Not Sondheim.
Trump will absolutely be won over by enthusiasm and energy and believing in something. he's a musicals guy. he's a showman.

A man died today at the Rikers Island jail complex. He was just hours away from an expected release.

This year, 13 people have now died in the NYC jails. That is *nearly triple* the number of people who died in the NYC jails in all of 2024. www.thecity.nyc/2025/11/21/r...
Hours Before Expected Release, Rikers Detainee Dies After Apparent Seizure
Edwin Ramos, 38, was slated to plead guilty and walk free Friday morning. Instead, he became the 13th person to die in city custody this year.

I’m a week past getting my gallbladder removed and I haven’t had to cook myself a meal this whole time. My community is feeding me, and they’re feeding me well - generous portions of delicious homemade food that fits my temporary dietary needs. It’s genuinely an incredible thing to receive.

Mo'ne Davis spent years telling people that she was done playing baseball. She did not want to be forever defined by what she did as a 13-year-old in Little League, a decade ago, and she did not feel like there was space for her to do much else. And then she felt differently. On Davis and the WPBL:
Mo’ne Davis Is Finally Ready to Play Baseball Again
More than a decade after becoming a Little League sensation at age 13, Mo’ne Davis is set to make more history as the face of the Women’s Pro Baseball League.

“Referred pain” is such a terrible problem and I am so so exhausted. Three more workdays to gallbladder removal and hopefully the end of this incredible weird shoulder pain that isn’t touched by pain meds.

If I have to vote against Andrew Cuomo a THIRD TIME
I guess when you've only ever been a politician you just keep trying to get elected to office, it's not like you can get a job as a sex pest or elder killer.

The world would be immensely better if more religions and their believers had even a tenth of the dedication the Sikhs do to doing good for people with no gatekeeping or expectations of anything other than "you are a fellow human in need and we can help you"
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.
A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

I’m so ready for my second Andrew Cuomo concession speech of 2025
why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

I'd love to see someone compile a list of New Yorkers who insisted they'll move out of NYC if Mamdani wins so if he does, y'all can follow up with them tomorrow and see if they need help packing.

You don’t get to name your kid X Æ A-12 and then say “or whatever his name is” about anyone else.
Elon Musk endorses Cuomo for mayor of New York and makes sure to add some racism in there: “…Mumdumi or whatever his name is.”

It’s intermission at And Then We Were No More at @lamamaetc.bsky.social and I have no idea where this fascinatingly strange play about ideas of justice is going to go from here. I can’t remember the last time I saw a piece of theater and was this unsure of what Act 2 would do.

This @bradlander.bsky.social quote gave me some real “oh fuck thats it” feelings. Of course it’s about our collective wounds and traumas, we’re Jews. Thanks for articulating the thing, Brad!

Today I got to see my grandma for the first time since she had a stroke six weeks ago. She’s 90, close to 91. She’s doing better than you can possibly imagine for a 90 year old woman who had a stroke!

And yet: visiting her just made me so sad, because she’s so bought in to American individualism.

Skipping tonight’s mayoral debate in favor of taking myself out for a nice dinner and a show (SLAM FRANK, a real musical). I can read the @hellgatenyc.com coverage later instead.

Reading WHEN WE’RE IN CHARGE by @amandalitman.bsky.social (finally? It’s been sitting on my kindle for months) and smiling at every mention of bright red lipstick as part of her formula for self-presentation. On Yom Kippur, a friend said she didn’t recognize me at first without my red lipstick.
