THREAD OF NARRATIVE MOMENTS THAT GIVE ME STENDHAL'S SYNDROME:

As someone who worked in healthcare for half my career:

Do not - *DO NOT* do this. The amount of data in your medical record is fucking INCREDIBLE and you do not have *any* idea of how granular things get

DO NOT feed that into the slop generator that steals shit for profit already. It will be sold

Going back into the dating pool (had its ups and downs, but it is nice to feel I can relate to people in many different emotional levels)
Many, many concerts, including learning more about the local scene.
Getting back my reading flow, being able to start and finish books.

Travel that felt purposeful.
A demo on Steam.
Two projects that are hitting the ground and look insane.
A publishing deal.
Starting improv, both as a hobby and as a way of meeting a new community.
Eating much better.
Seeing my kid grow from a toddler into a child.

2026 is bound to have some challenging moments. For starters, @assemblingchickens.bsky.social needs to become profitable, which will probably take a lot of work and smart decisions, but I feel more ready than ever to grab the reigns of my life.

2025 recap: Insane.

On a larger note, it feels that this has been the year when a few seeds that were planted some time ago took root and started to flourish. I feel complete and (almost) healthy, and aligned with who I want to be.

All humans are able to self-govern given the means and space to do so.

And I do mean ALL.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Years of successful experiments and radical economic theories that consistently do the math: Anecdotal evidence

A bunch of ideas that some guys who were being paid to say communism was bad came up with in the 40s and 50s: Irrefutable truth.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Just finished episode 9 of Pluribus and wtf do you mean there are no more???

Is this what people who are not awfully late to everything feel like the whole time??? I don't like it...

The whole Cameron's Avatar franchise is so soulless that I bet you can point to it as a pivot point in our society ceasing to consume art and moving towards consuming "content".
and not a penny to the Lakota, who’s story Cameron exploited to create a pseudo-pan-Indigenous alien fantasy that helps no one but his own pocket.

This world’s priorities are all wrong.

We should start counting years backwards (as in next year we go back to 2024, the next to 2023...) just so 2000 years from now people start freaking out. "WHAT DID THE ANCIENTS KNOW? WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN YEAR ZERO???"

Flashback of how fun it was to use stick figures to represent complex sexual positions with many people involved when I was writing p0rn games...
Anyone who supports this is an embarrassment. "Instead of typing it out they'll generate their idea"? Are you insane?

Call yourself whatever you want but you aren't creatives, that's for sure.

For them, these characters take on an important role in their lives. Whether it's self-expression, exploring taboos/kinks, exploration or something else, their attachment to the character becomes important and they build a strong emotional bond.

And that's what I think people are asking about.
December 17, 2025 at 9:11 AM
As an ND writer, I've been baffled by this too. I never get attached to my characters in that way, thay are, after all, characters who serve a purpose for the story they are in, and I prioritize the story over them.

However, not all people do this. Some people are "character first".

"Specific Game Features" meaning that GTA VI will have game mechanics where you act as a masive corporation exploiting and abusing workers.
Rockstar now claims it was, in fact, the leaking of “specific game features from upcoming and unannounced titles” that led to the firings.

We’re going to have to see the company prove this in an employment tribunal & more than that, it’ll need to prove it for all 31 fired employees in the UK too.

Rockstar has claimed the employees it recently fired were dismissed because they leaked game features for upcoming and unannounced titles in Discord, not because they were trying to unionize. https://bit.ly/48A0tTf
