Everyone should get at least 1 hassle-free (and cost-free) name change. Imagine how many headaches this would reduce from people getting married, or learning how they self-identify, or freeing themselves from reminders of abuse.
It's just the right thing to do.

normalize name changes for anyone tbh. even if you're not trans, you should be able to just choose a name you feel good about and not have it be a big deal

I think that with how uncertain things are right now for the arts, it's especially frustrating when given the advice from artist to artist that in order to survive, you have to do more, and that it's seemingly at the point where whatever more we have to do, it's never actually enough.

This is an EXCELLENT read and anyone that makes or even just enjoys comics should pick up.
I backed the Kickstarter a couple years ago, and I still go back to it and read through the tome of helpful knowledge on occasion.

A realization that I had a few years ago is that most current day creatives you admire are probably working multiple jobs, and if they're lucky all of those jobs are creative, but many aren't.
Give yourself slack as you make ends meet, but also we all need to fight for better pay together.

Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.
