Once in a while I ask my spouse to repeat something they’ve said in German because it sounds made up to my dumb American ears. Then I see this in our kitchen and can at least see why I think it sounds made up. Can’t wait to have time to learn this sometimes hilarious, sometimes baffling language.

In these horrible times photography remains my therapy. I hated what Insta became and hate Zuck even more so I finally left it about a year ago now (last remaining Meta product after jettisoning FB back in 2016, so it felt GOOD to delete it). Foto is just photography, nothing else. Join me there?

Today I saw ICE gas little white kids in the streets of Portland with chemical weapons. Imagine what they're doing to brown and black kids in the detention camps

If you see this, don't participate. It's a rigged study by Lisa Littman and unethical researcher J. Michael Bailey meant to undermine access to care. Spread the word.

DIY white walls in Lisbon for @righteousamerica.bsky.social because he recently posted a photo of a truck that would have looked great with (real) white wall tires.

Tomorrow, there will be oral arguments in a major SCOTUS case on transgender sports.

At least, that's how it's being reported everywhere.

But it's not just about sports. The ruling could change transgender rights for a generation, and impacts EVERYTHING.

Tomorrow's SCOTUS Case Is Not Just About Transgender Sports; Ruling Could Impact All Trans Rights
Though much of the reporting on the Little v. Hecox court case is about transgender sports participation, the SCOTUS ruling could impact all rights of transgender people.

A friend of mine opened up a healthcare clinic in Milwaukee that provides abortions (I believe one of two now that PP are not). They are raising funds to have a mural painted to help guide clients to a gated parking lot (you can read more about why if you click through). Donate if you can!

Since the clinic opened we have looked for ways to beautify and update our building and surrounding area. With the support of local community members and organizations, we have chosen to paint a large...

I read the enemy (one of the enemies, at least) for gems like this. Which, btw, has me in a deep spiral questioning reality. Eat fat and protein but no alcohol for breakfast. Ok. Got it.

Bought some of this film a while ago (filmphotographystore.com/products/35m...) and finally finished shooting it. Told the lab I didn’t expect much but I ended up being pleasantly surprised! Ended up shooting it at 50 instead of 25.

Sorry, obligatory pretty snow pic. Much less snow than anticipated (the two modes of snow prediction are way too little or way too much (yesterday they said it could be up to 11” and we got 4”).

This is an amazing double feature. I’m not in L.A. but I own both films so maybe I’ll recreate it at home and you should do the same if you want to treat yourself. Start with THE LONG GOODBYE.

Look, I’ve never been to Japan but, come on, 19th century Japan was so ahead of its time that nobody has yet caught up to doing cool shit like this (as far as I know, at least).
A selection of beautiful firemen’s coats from 19th-century Japan. The coats were reversible — one side was plain and the other side (worn on the inside while tackling blazes) was decorated with rich and symbolic imagery: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/japanese-firemans-coats-19th-century
