If the government really intends to seize jewellery and other valuables from refugees,
either
- it is staggeringly ignorant of the historical precedents
or
- it's aware of the precedents, and thinks, yeah, we'll have some of that.

Fancy being a Republican in 2025 and standing by this guy. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could make it worth it. Climbing the steps to power without any ethical banisters is not the power you think it is. Shame.

The Faragists, backed by Gina, are about to trigger a full blast Australian fear campaign on net zero target and “mass” migration. Resolve polling indicates electors remain undecided on these political pressure points.

I do remember the Dismissal although still at primary school. Much later I came to understand its political significance. But I do have an anecdote about meeting Mr Whitlam, in 1990, working in DFAT, he visited our branch. It was truly something to see the impact of his presence in the room. 11/11

Australia no. 4 on the list of countries with sister-city relationships with Japan. We have 107–sounds like a timely research project for the 50th Anniversary next year for the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

Found another one; Icebreaker. Oh my goodness…🫣
Picking up more vocab, in context and learning that the same actors turn up in different series. Rather familiar.
I may have run out of Finnish drama series to watch, and I am a little sad about that.

Re the Ancient History exam bungle, not that my opinion matters, I dropped Ancient History after grade 8. However, as an educator, why were students being taught to an exam question, rather than studying several Caesars in context and responding to a broader question of the times? Seems exclusive.

Try reducing Qld politicians’ salaries and allowances to that of Qld teachers for a year…six months…even three months. Hour for hour, we know who works harder, whose labour is not appropriately recognised.
