I'd rather ride my bike to get places. Becoming more involved so others can too.
Also, maybe some sports stuff.

San Francisco City Football Club and SF Muni are excited to announce that the groundbreaking partnership promoting public transit and local footy is continuing for another two seasons.

The partnership remains cashless, with no money exchanged between the two parties.

Final votes are 15 commissioners in favor of the trail closure, 2 opposed, and 1 abstaining. A minimum of 14 votes was needed to pass this, so sadly it means the motion is approved and the bridge trail will be closed 4 days a week for 3 years starting possibly this October.

I took a new job for next school year partially so I could ride this more and drive less. Please sign the petition to help so I actually get to do that.
The petition to keep the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Trail open 24/7 is now fewer than 75 signatures from the 5000-person goal. Check it out & share now so we can meet & exceed that number ahead of the August 7th meeting & vote!

So… The Bay Area Council’s “rally” to close the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge trail is being held in the middle of the freeway, only accessible by car. That basically says it all.

Tons of public resources being used for this event today. How is this legal?

Pitch-perfect messaging and framing from @elisejoshi.bsky.social. Transit advocates everywhere: watch this video, learn from it, apply to your local contexts, repeat.

UPDATE: The April 3rd Richmond-San Rafael Bridge trail vote is postponed again, this time indefinitely. Below is the info from the BCDC meeting agenda.

This delay is good news, likely a result of all the folks who wrote in and expressed their concerns about the trail closure proposal. Thank you!

According to the Marin Museum of Bicycling, Owen Mulholland (RIP) is the reason we can bike across the Golden Gate Bridge during the week.

From the article: "Philosophically, I'm opposed to the point of view that cars are the only viable means of transportation."

The final vote on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is about to go down! We're headed into the March 20 meeting knowing we have people power on our side.

Thanks to everybody who has followed along the last few months. We wanted to share a quick recap of what BCDC is voting on, and what's at stake.

Last fall, I was tired of hearing that support for bikes came from a narrow minority of Berkeley, so I commissioned a poll to ask how broad support is here. The answer is that the vast majority of the city, 73%—and even a majority of people who do not bike—support adding more bike infrastructure.
